Bidra med feedbackI ordered the "almost famous" lobster roll, and it absolutely lived up to its reputation. The roll was packed with generous portions of lobster and came with a generous serving of old bay fries. The flavors were fantastic. My only minor suggestion would be to have the bun cut a little deeper, as the shallow pocket made it slightly challenging to eat.
I ordered the Nearly Famous Lobster Roll and the Brioche Caramel French Toast. The Lobster Roll was one of the best I've had in NYC - not too much Mayo, perfect seasoning, and delicious hot fries. The French toast was mediocre, but that was my own fault for ordering it. I will definitely be returning for the lobster roll!
The Mermaid offers one of the best Happy Hours in the Upper West Side. From 5-7, they have discounted drinks and food, with $1.50 oysters being the standout item. These Blue Point oysters are large and delicious. Situated on 87th and Amsterdam, it's a great spot for a drink and appetizer before dinner. I suggest making reservations if you plan on dining there, as it tends to get crowded. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, you can still order food and enjoy your meal there.
We went for a quick dinner down the road by our apartment this evening, and The Mermaid Inn delivered an amazing experience for us! The atmosphere was great with nice music. They were busy but not noisy. The candles on the table created a warm and calmfeeling. The oyster and clams were great! My husband loved the salmon and hush puppies. He said the salmon entree wasunbelievably delicious with the salmon resting on top of a bed of vegetables: sweet potatoes, mushroom, greens, and so on. Theservice was great! We will be back to try more dishes!
Always a good spot for happy hour oysters and drinks. indoor seating is always packed even prepandemic. service is good despite how busy they are with indoor and outdoor seating. wait staff are super nice. even got complimentary dessert before we left toanother place for dinner. will definitely return when in the area.
