El Rio Grande - New York

Order took much longer than expected. Waiter explained our order was taken by a different waiter. Service was attentive apart from the delay with our good.

The staff is the best! it's always an enjoyable time.

El Rio Grande has a good vibe and a fine menu, but the actual food is lackluster: cardboard tortilla chips, salsa with an aftertaste, nachos that must've been soggy even before they hit the table, a chicken taco set that wasn't worth it, and a chorizo dish that didn't rise to the occasion. Nothing terrible, just not very good.

The food was definitely very good at El Rio Grande. My only complaint is that the restaurant should tell you that when you are seated outside, that you will be served in plastic cups. In my opinion the plastic cups killed the whole ambiance of the restaurant and the wonderful variety of mojitos they serve. It wasn't even nice plastic cups...they were cheap ones you use when having a family BBQ. (I wouldnt even use those cups for any event- FYI- Solo Cups do come in clear cups now) That was a sincere turn-off . Other than that, good place to have a casual outing with friends.

We went for an early dinner on a Monday. Sat in Mexico room. Quite nice. The other side of restaurant is Texas?! It was not crowded and service was great. Food we had was Enchilada combo and Conchonitas were very good. Large portions. Tasty. Cadillac Margaritas were great, and strong ! Would definitely go again.
