Double Chicken Please - New York

Amazing. The cocktails are top-notch. I had the cold noodle soup, which was incredible, but the key lime pie was even better – it tasted just like a real cake. The prices for cocktails are standard for NYC (18-22 dollars). The service is pleasant and the atmosphere is nice. I highly recommend this place. It can be a bit challenging to get into the Coop where they serve the famous cocktails, depending on the season. However, the front bar is also great for a relaxed time with friends.

It’s good. But, 2nd best bar IN THE WORLD? Let’s take it easy there, tiger. The vibe is on point for both front room and back room. 10/10 Service was excellent, attentive, and not pushy. The chicken sandwich is really good. Damn good, in fact. I preferred the hot honey over the salted egg yolk. Best chicken sandwich ever? I’ll put it in top 5, but not top 2. Front room drinks were really good. The #9 with the raisin was my favorite. #11 with cold brew was good but not as good as I’d hoped. Wife had #5, which was also really tasty. As for the back room…. Japanese Cold Noodles do not, in fact, taste like Japanese cold noodles. Both have cucumber and sesame oil but that is about as far as the comparison goes. The drink was fine but other reviewers are going a bit overboard on what basically boils down to a cucumber piña colada. Again, it’s good, but temper your expectations. We also had the NY Beet Salad, Red Eye Gravy, and Butter Raisin Biscuit. All were fine/good. Points for creativity, but the end result left me craving a basic, well made cocktail. Overall, I think double chicken please is a victim of their own success, and the hype is unfortunately difficult to live up to. Had I not had such high expectations, I might’ve come out more satisfied. But in the end, who cares what I think? They’re crushing it with a line down the block and I’m just someone with an opinion. I’d still go back to try the rest of the menu.

Double Chicken Please makes for such a fun night out! Our friends got in line around 4:40 on a Friday and were able to put our party of 4 on the waitlist for the back room. We ended up getting called around 8 pm. You have 10 minutes to show up after you check in that you’re coming. The drinks are really fun and the fried chicken is SO GOOD. We particularly enjoyed the popcorn chicken and the spicy chicken sandwich.

Stayed in line for 1 hour but was completely worth it. Great food and drinks. Definitely going to be one of our best place for drinks in the City.

I’ve walked into this place not knowing it’s the 2nd best bar in the world. I was just looking for a fried chicken sandwich. Though, I have to say, the name is creative for both a chicken sandwich shop and a bar. The ambience inside can be described as “cool ny bar with some kinks, offering certain kind of unique vibes that your tiny brain might not be able to comprehend”. Anyway, there was a line at 10:30pm (and raining , but it was a quick wait and the door guy was pretty chill and friendly. I ordered the mocktail and the fried chicken sandwich (obviously . The mocktail was pretty interesting. It said “winter melon, oolong, citrus”. I am 100% sure that these are not the only ingredients because otherwise it would be incredible to get this flavor out of this weird combination (or maybe the description is intended to be vague and mysterious . It did taste good though. However, the hit honey chicken sandwich did not deliver. It looked great, but it was mediocre at best. I say this because, as you can see from the pic, the amount of chicken inside was disappointing. Too much batter and very little actual chicken. The honey made it really sweet too. I couldn’t tell what the green sauce was because of the sweetness. It was not spicy to my taste. The bun was fine. I just expected much more given that some people said that this was one of New York’s best fried chicken sandwiches. Even more when I knew that it was the second best bar in the world. Perhaps the chicken pop corn was a better option. Something else that I noticed was that the bartender was not as professional as I would expect from a bar of this caliber. Nothing in particular, but she was a bit slow and confused. If this was a normal bar, I would have disregarded this, but I feel sorry for those who were coming here for a drink after waiting in the rain for a while. (By the way, slightly off topic, but I am slowly losing trust in the “best50” ranking because every single time I walk into a highly ranked restaurant from this list, it would be very good at looks/vibes/experience, but not necessarily food.
