Bidra med feedbackI made a reservation in January and paid in full by March 16 for a check-in on April 12. However, when we arrived, we found the gates chained. Despite receiving confirmation from the host three days prior to our arrival on April 9, we were unaware that the restaurant had been closed since March 9 with no communication from the host regarding the closure. It was the French Quarter Festival weekend and hotels were scarce and expensive. We were left stranded without a place to stay, in a neighborhood with heavy gang activity and homeless tent cities everywhere. AirBnB helped us cancel our reservation, but we were still out of money and had to scramble to find a place to sleep. I advise against staying here. The host has not apologized for the inconvenience, and we ended up paying nearly double for a hotel in the city. They show no regard for their guests, and the neighborhood was noisy and somewhat intimidating. I recommend spending a bit more money to stay somewhere reputable.
I am in need of assistance regarding this establishment. I paid $712 in advance through their website for a reservation. A month later, they cancelled the reservation citing maintenance issues, but I have not received a refund. When I call, I am directed to contact the reservation company, even though I made the reservation directly with them. I have left numerous messages and emails but have not received any response.
We stayed at this beautiful place for 2 nights and it truly is a gem. The themed rooms were a lot of fun and added to our experience. We had a strange paranormal encounter on the first night, but it didn't take away from our overall enjoyment of the place. Tony, the owner, was magnificent and very welcoming. He shared the history of the place with us and was incredibly helpful and accommodating. The night time security, Kent, was also great and made us feel safe during Mardi Gras. Overall, this was an amazing experience with great people. We definitely plan on coming back and trying out all the different themed rooms.
Loved this hotel! It was kind of like a bed n breakfast, but very quiet, very self help oriented, the staff was gracious and everything was very clean. Loved coffee and water in lobby 24/7!Nearby activities: Hop on Hop off trolly was walking distance, very close to resteraunts, pharmacy and bars and shopping!Walkability: Yes, walking sidewalks are everywhere around, close to coffee shops, restaurants and more!
Okay. So this place is not fancy or opulent or even nice. But it is fun and funky and has an amazing location. Kind of like all of New Orleans, it’s a little gritty but rich in history and has a fun vibe.First the good. The Magnolia Mansion is one of those massive antebellum homes in the heart of the Garden District, surrounded by other beautiful homes, giant live oak trees and a buzzing activity. There is a great front porch and courtyard area that we used multiple times during our stay. But what makes this place really great is the location. In between St Charles Ave and Magazine Street and a block from the #12 Street car (that runs all day long between the Garden District and the French Quarter) the Magnolia Mansion served as a great home base that we could conveniently stop off at during our exploring to refuel. Now for some not so good features. The rooms are a little shabby. If you’re quite particular about the hotels you stay in, the MM may not be for you. This place is not quite a hotel, not quite a B&B and not quite an Air BnB. It’s not sure what it wants to be. But it was safe, clean(ish) and just fine.All-in-all we had a great weekend in NOLA and the Magnolia Mansion fit our needs.
