Grey Area Tavern - NEW HARTFORD

This was our third time eating at Grey Area. Each time the food and the service has been excellent. I really enjoyed the coconut shrimp

We enjoy Grey Area Tavern , we just moved to Canton. I believe this was an isolated issue.

The food here continues to be very good. The decor needs some work, though, to match the quality of the food. But considering the newness of the place, and the pandemic era we live in, it's understandable to not be super decorated...yet. One thing that annoyed us was the loud music played through the Bose speaker near the door. I understand having music near the bar, but this music was closer to the indoor dining area, and it was a bit intrusive. Oh, and I booked outdoor seating through OpenTable, and all of the tables were seated when we arrived, except for one small two-top facing the busy road frontage. We opted to go inside for our dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful, which helped make the little inconveniences a little easier to tolerate. We look forward to returning!

Cute place and nice staff, bad food. They over seasoned everything we ate and i felt like i was only eating black pepper. Would not go here again.

My GF and I were looking to check out some new eating places in the area, and I found a few nice reviews for Grey Area Tavern. I had driven by many times, and I always wanted to visit, and this was THE time to check it out. I'm glad that we stopped in. During the middle of the week, there was NO crowd, but in these COVID times, the dining-in crowds can be a little sparse. But for us, this was a bonus, since we like quieter venues...so no annoying loud talkers on this date. The food was very nice, and quite well presented. We were both quite happy with our meals (I tried the tuna tartare, then a burger, and GF had wings and a salad). I was quite happy to see the owner stop by for a chat. It's always a great extra touch for owners to seek feedback from their guests! He admitted that he still had more work to do in terms of decor, which we definitely agreed. But the service was very good (friendly, attentive, and helpful) and the food was terrific (the modest exterior of the place belies the quality of the meals served here). We will definitely be back!
