Bidra med feedbackGreat cozy little place with wonderful food and staff
Quaint family diner not far off the highway. We ordered the donair platter, soup of the day, and tossed salad and chicken. Good food at reasonable prices combined with a friendly welcoming service experience. Love it!
Sorry to have to give such a low rating to this place. It has fantastically low prices, but you also get what you pay for. The quality of the food isn't the greatest. I got clams and a caesar salad and the clams were mostly breading. Could barely taste the clams themselves! Also, the portion was on the smaller side. The caesar had way too much dressing on it, and it used fake bacon along with generic croutons. Another on our party had wings and, again, there was so much breading and so little actual meat on them. A lot of them came broken too. Some in our party ordered the pan fried haddock and while the fish itself tasted decent, the portion size was pretty much kids size. It's clear that this place depends heavily on their fryers and frozen food. That would be almost okay if they put any sort of effort into their dishes aside from merely assembling the ingredients from outside suppliers. If you want a cheap meal, this place will deliver, but that will be the only thing it actually delivers on.
The East Side Restaurant is a hidden surprise in NG. It's your run of the mill family restaurant which is short on decor but tall on good food, good portions and good prices. Having been there a couple of times, I admit that when I want simple fare I visit. They have daily specials, your regular burgers and fries, sandwiches (both hot and cold), soups, and fish and chips (which I like). Really they have all dishes you would associate with a FR. Portions are generous and my last visit (for two people) with a main entree and beverage cost $22. Service is quick and friendly. I don't always need a production, sometimes I simply want the grub.
I go here regularly and the food is always delicious (basically home style cooking). The George Street breakfast is amazing 2 eggs, bacon (or your choice), order the real pan fries, toast and all you can eat pancakes. You will not leave here feeling hungry! The staff and owner are friendly and courteous.
