Bidra med feedbackCame with husband and family for dads birthday. Restaurant itself was nice and casual but a bit cold despite the heating. Friendly service. Good value. Well priced and decent serving sizes. Decent food. Family had the pasta dishes which was reported as good. Mum had the chicken dish which she enjoyed. My steak was average: was cooked well but didn't quite like the mushroom sauce. Tasty Greek salad. Would go again but stick to their pasta dishes.
Very disappointing. We heard great things about this place, so decided to try it. We had a scoupon voucher, so the meal was good value, but the quality left a lot to be desired. The voucher was for 2 but there were 3 of us, so the 3rd person ordered off the standard menu. Unfortunately all 3 dishes were very average, prawn linguine with 2 prawns, chicken excellence came with 2 luke warm jacket potatoes (although the sauce was good), veal parmigiana was ok. It seemed not all of the incredients in all of the dishes were freshly prepred, as some things (in one dish) were hot, others room temperature. Sticky date pudding with walnuts for desert was the highlight. I really wanted to love this place, but don't think I'll go back.
We came here with a Groupon voucher and ordered the calamari for appetizers, a veal and a chicken for networks and 1 of each dessert available from the Set Groupon menu. Grief The Calamari was a bit too greasy and probably lacking salt. The menu price for it would be $ 17, which I feel is very overpriced for what we got (see picture). Grief The calf was pretty bad. Cold spaghetti, tasteless and chewy veal Parmi, which was hard to cut. The chicken was a little better, the cream sauce was the saving grace. Grief Grief The desserts were the best part of the whole meal. Cream Brûlée was a bit burned, but otherwise okay. The date and the walnut cake was pretty good. Grief The service was friendly, though potentially slower because of underaisa, and the presentation of food was not with the atmosphere of the restaurant.
Arrived on a Wednesday at 6:00 for a work dinner with a total of 7 of us. At that time we were the only customers. I must say that I agree with some of the previous comments. The Hospitality industry is about service and the wait staff in this restaurant let it down. We waited some time for our mains and even then 2 were wrong. The waitress admitted she wrote down the wrong thing and did offer to have one replaced but as we had already waited the person concerned did not wish to wait again for a replacement. ( the other one decided not to comment). The food was cooked well enough and presentation and taste were fine but the attitude of the staff left a lot to be desired, whilst not overtly hostile or rude the undertone was of someone too tired to make an effort.
A very disappointing experience, especially considering the place's previous reputation. Should have listened more to some comments here, such as Tyson Cable's! I don't understand people who are in the hospitality business, but all their actions say they don't want to be there and they hate what they do. It also baffles me why promote a restaurant through a discount voucher (Groupon) and give your customer a vastly inferior service. Who would want to come back after that? In fact worse than that: how many friends will we tell not to go to this place?!... [food for thought...??? :) ] At the time of booking I mentioned the Groupon voucher and asked if we would have a limited selection of foods to chose from and if we could have BYO wine. I was assured that the service and food will be the same and we can bring our own; furthermore being Tuesday, there will be no corkage charged. Being my partner's birthday, I brought a very special wine which we intended to drink with a really nice meal. I was really looking forward to this. Upon arrival we were told that with the Groupon voucher you can't have BYO, but a glass of wine per person is included anyway. Then we were given this cheap "menu" on a laminated A4 yellow sheet, which contained the "selection" of dishes to choose from: 2 entrees, 3 main dishes and 2 sweets. It was like a blow in your face. To humiliate us even more one entree had to be shared between two people. How could a $135 voucher not afford us 4 separate entrees??? Here are my comments about the food: Average italian food, nothing special. All food needed extra salt. The wine was as cheap as they could find, probably from a cask or a $5 bottle. The only highlights were the sweets, which were very nice. Servings were adequately large - at least that. As we were the last guest at 9, which is not late by any means, the waitress/manageress (one person for all and everything) became quite obviously busy with packing things away, cleaning up, bringing in the pillows from outside (dropping them next to us...) and turning the lights off in the further parts of the restaurant. "It's time for us to go" was the message in no uncertain terms. We did just that and never ever come back again!
