Bidra med feedbackWe have eaten in Eden restaurant many times for several years and it was our favorite local place to eat, however in the past year or so standards and the quality of food has dramatically dropped, this may be because the hotel has had a new general manager in that time. We were really disappointment to find that a lot of bar food items served at the bar area upstairs were also on the menu for Eden Restaurant which is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant or at least it use to be. The bread they served in years previous was made in house and we know this because we spoke with the chef many times over the years, the bread they use now is obviously no longer made on site and you can certainly taste the difference in quality, the bread recently served to us was stale around the edges and was not fresh. The main meal was okay, nothing to rave about and absolutely not worth the money we paid, sadly we wont be returning to our once favorite restaurant until they return it to the fine dining restaurant it use to be.
Having eaten in the hotel for lunch earlier that day, we were very surprised to see 80% of the same dishes on the menu at Eden Bellinter’s '2AA Rosette’ restaurant. There was nothing new so we skipped starters. The bread on the table was stale. We noticed a lot of flies on the dining room ceiling. I ordered a steak, cooked medium. 30 minutes later the steak arrived and it was clearly well done, plus it was dry and appeared to have been re heated. The waiter was lovely and brought it back to the kitchen. Less than two minutes later he reappeared with another dry, overcooked steak. It was the exact same as the first (dry, overcooked, gristly so, mortified, I had to send it back again. At this stage, to our horror, the flies were beginning to land on our plates (and on our hands and faces! . After waiting another 20 minutes for a third steak, when it eventually arrived. In fairness, the third stead looked like it had been cooked to order BUT there were too many flies landing on our plates to continue dinner so we took our wine and headed outside! The couple at the table next to us had to leave their meal halfway through because of the flies too. Breakfast was another disappointment. I ordered their ‘Crepes with berries, clotted cream and maple syrup’. What arrived was a cold, stale pancake that looked like it was from a packet with berries and icing sugar. There was no clotted cream and no maple syrup. I can’t understand why the chef would put something on the menu when they don’t have the staff to make a simple fresh crepe or the ingredients to go on it. Everyone’s had a crepe before, it’s pretty clear what diners are expecting. All in all, a gorgeous, beautifully decorated hotel with lovely staff (especially Cathal in the bar and a great spa, but TOTALLY let down by the flies and the terrible food.
Service content price all met with exempilary measures of efficiency from starter to dessert and the ambience of the whole thing added to the experiance
Came here for a night with family over Christmas, and had dinner in The Eden restaurant.had the scallops with black pudding for starter, and we had rib eye steaks, burgers, pork belly, and fish and chips, all of which were enjoyed by each person.we only had one dessert, and a few Irish coffees, and everyone enjoyed it.the staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive, and not overpriced for a decent hotel,so I would recommend it for sure.
