Bidra med feedbackWe absolutely love coming here. My husband is Persian so he orders for us. We always have jujeah and koobideh. Pari is as attentive as she needs to be while working the kitchen and tables at the same time. She and her husband are so sweet and accommodating and we recommend Shish Kabob Nashville to everyone! Coming from out of town, and a place where Mediterranean is very common so I have a pretty good idea of what Mediterranean should be like. And this restaurant nailed it! Excellent, freshly prepared food, really friendly service. Excelente, comida recién preparada, servicio muy amable.
This is definitely the best place to get tasty middle-eastern food in Nashville. I go their often and I like to try something different every time i go. I've yet to be disappointed. On top of that, the owner Hikmat is a true gentleman.
I have passed by this place many times and have been curious but never ventured in. To be honest, I could never be sure what type of restaurant it was from the outside counter service, etc. Well I decided to be adventurous today and try it out. I had planned on getting a gyro plate before even going inside. I was surprised when I walked it to find it to be a more formal setting than the counter service gyro places I had been in before. I asked the hostess if they did carryout orders and she said yes and provided me with a menu. I placed my order for a gyro plate and she brought me a ticket to pay. There was an additional $1.00 charge on the ticket which I assume is for the to go containers. Would have been nice to have a head's up beforehand. They have two handwritten signs at the hostess stand saying they automatically charge a gratuity for parties of 6 (I think) and they are no longer taking Groupon discount or several others. Bottom line was that they are currently taking no coupons of any kind. They were offering a lunch buffet of $9.99 which I thought might be cool to try sometime to get exposed to a variety of authentic dishes. I brought my food back to work and was surprised to find a small container with fresh herbs, a block of feta, a radish, and a few black olives. I was curious so I Googled to find out what I was supposed to do with the herbs. There was mint, cilantro, and what smelled like tarragon. I tried to do the traditional thing but I think it just wasn't for me. I thought the gyro meat was the best I'd ever had lots of crunchy, flavorful edges. The bread was not pita either lavash maybe? The rice was good too. I didn't care for the salad with the tomatoes and cucumbers. They had gotten too mushy and so it didn't have the fresh taste that I usually get from tabbouleh. (it wasn't tabbouleh but some other salad with a name I can't recall). I did feel like it was all very authentic but have nothing to base it on really. I don't think I would do it again as takeout because by the time I gave the hostess $1.00 for taking care of my order, it was $13. There are a variety of places that I can have a casual sit down lunch for that, even with a proper tip.
