Bidra med feedbackFirst I called over a dozen times and never got an answer, just sent to a voice mailbox that was full. When I left 2 messages at the group mailbox none where returned. The website has hours to 8 pm. We got there at about 6:45 and the lights were off and the sign in the window said open until 6 pm Sun-Thur. What a letdown after driving do almost 2 hours. If there was going to be a next time I would know to get there earlier. I did not sign up for a tour on the website as I have seen a few distilleries an all have been similar, so no need to see another.I will say the poorest customer service I and hitting it quite some time. On the web hard truth is listed as a tourist vattraction, how true. Distillery was not used and now I know why. Very disappointed.
We decided to grab a quick lunch around 3:00pm on a Sunday. Getting to Hard Truth is easy and their parking lot is HUGE so parking was not an issue. The Distillery is currently decorated for the holidays just oozes vibes of winter magic. They have a christmas tree inside the restaurant that is made out of wood planks from barrels it was the coolest thing! Our server was Anna C. She was tentative, friendly, helped us go over the menu. It was my mom's first time visiting Hard Truth so Anna told her about everything the 325 acre property has to offer. And the newest edition: you can now stay the night at one of their newly built cabins located directly on the property! (While it was my mom's first visit, my first visit happened a few months ago in September for a bachelorette party. The party signed up to do Hard Truth's ATV tasting tour. And it was SO.MUCH.FUN! The ATV tour offers ticketing options for the drinkers the non drinkers. We had 2 ATVs drive us around the property. It was the perfect mix of ATV time, tasting time, down time, learning about Hard Truth. I would definitely do the ATV tour again. But back to my mom's first visit the food was great! She ordered the meatloaf dinner really enjoyed it. I tried her mashed potatoes they were delicious. I don't typically like gravy on my mashed potatoes but their gravy was to die for. I had the chicken noodle soup it was really good too! We made plans to come back during the warmer months to sit outback enjoy their live music at their concert stage.
Great atmosphere and setting. Service was terrific. Great adult beverages. The soft pretzel and beer cheese was terrific. The pulled pork grilled cheese was very good. Fries were perfect. Strangely enough, the fish from the fish and chips entree had zero flavor. It said it was beer battered. The batter was almost like a Yorkshire pudding where it had a bit of stretch and pull to it, but there was zero seasoning or flavor to this fish. The tartar sauce didn't even help it. I should have gotten a burger, which looked great.
The nachos are delicious, probably the best thing on the entire menu. In the summer it's the scenery paired with a house lemonade. It is a little pricey, but that goes with the brand. A nice place to unwind but be prepared to be patient. Also recommend the tasting at this location, worth every penny!
Arrived early, around 11am, restaurant reservations at 12:30. Walked down to small pond and the view was amazing. An employee saw us and went out of his way to ask if he could take a photo of us. Real hospitality! We did the tasting room first. $5 for 5 choice samplings of spirits. Beer sampler flights also available. The explanation of spirits and variety was amazing. Left with several items from the store. The sweet mash rye is my all time favorite! Quickly sat at our outdoor table, our request. Looking down on the outdoor live music stage. 3 live bands scheduled and the one we heard was very good. We shared the bacon bourbon burger, onion rings, pretzel and cheese sauce. 5 STAR on all the food, drinks, service and general hospitality!!! Best burger in INDY ordered medium rare. I'm drooling posting this! Awesome views and atmosphere. A true MUST visit for sure. We will be back
