Bidra med feedbackWe stumbled on this tucked away place . Notice others have found it ! They come in and out . Many ordering exactly what they like right off . The people are delightful , and very hard working . The food is simple and tasty..., with many choices . A man left as we were ordering , raving that he had had the worlds best fries ! Open twelve hours , so a late night favorite. It is close to the Port Theatre for a bite pre or after .
The menu at this restaurant is diverse, but everything is executed with great authenticity and attention to detail. I have been here several times and have tried multiple poutines, hot dogs, and Banh Mi's, all of which were excellent. During my most recent visit, I tried the Salt and Pepper fries with the All American Dog, which were very enjoyable, especially the fries. This is definitely a must-visit spot in Nanaimo.
Let's get the positives out of the way: The service is very friendly, some of the seats you can look at Commercial and its fascinating anthropology, and the prices are definitely reasonable. The rest is a bit down as the... place not only funky... It's dirty. The seats are kept dark from decades of use, the tables are literally on their last wobbly legs, and there are curio features high on the walls that are probably not dusted as they were placed there when I was a teenager. When my sandwich arrived, it came in a to-go aluminum foil. Apparently there are no courts here. The train Mi was certainly a ok value and had excellent, fresh, crispy veg, but the meat was a mud and the overall taste was pasty and insipid. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed.
We ordered the poutins there was so much pepper in the Gravy, that's all you could taste. It wasn't very good.
1. Once I got the poutins, it was fine (prob bc I was heavy drunk), huge proportion for $15 big size. 2 times ordered pickup for Vermicelli bowl with beef, my sister got the butter chicken dish. When we got the main sauce home... because the Vermicelli bowl was not in there, so I couldn't eat my meal as it was dry noodles with uncut vegetables, I tried the beef, it was strictly tasted like Donair meat (not with a Vietnamese dish). Sisters Butter “Hähnchen” was inconspicuous and they hardly ate it when the chicken was gummy tasteless, along with crispy rice... they told me the next time I came a meal of choice in return for the meal I didn’t get. I went back a week later for Chow mean, came home, I'm not one to use such a tasteless word, but it tastes like barf. The sauce was disgusting and cloby and the "three to the top" smell/taste was not even acceptable to take more than 3 bites. I just threw out money to get 2 spare meals from somewhere else. Would never recommend that. I never write reviews unless it's not disappointing.
