Dish Nanaimo

Its one of those places that doesn't stand out on the streets, and you kind of have to know about the place by looking here on tripadvisor. We ordered the Mt. Benson sandwich which is grilled veggies with edamame hummus on Italian white bread. For dessert we got the Cayenne Brownies. The sandwich was fresh made to order, which I like. It was pretty good. The bread came from the local bakery down the road (Nanaimo Bakery on Bowen.) I loved the brownies, it had the right amount of kick to it. If you want coffee, you won't find it here. They serve cold drinks only. I was impressed that they had 4 different vegetarian/vegan soups and a decent selection for pescatarian/vegetarians. Funky decor.

Just recently found out about Dish, has the best sandwiches and stuff to take away, We have been ordering for work Please try the chocolate moose. amazing.

We came to Dish on the advice of friends and were not disappointed. Even though the freezers were mostly empty due to maintenance and the staff were short-handed, we were happily treated very well. Staff were friendly and went out of their way to please us. The menu is not large and a lot of it is available frozen to take home. Lots of healthy alternatives, including vegetarian dishes. Will definitely go back.

It was late..we hadn't eaten lunch and needed to. We pulled in and the husband was reluctant to go in. Boy, am I glad we did! The menu was small but it was still hard to decide what to eat. We both had the Bacon Supreme (I think I have the name right..bacon..lots of it, avocado, tomato on fresh italian bread.) Amazing! Nice place to pull up a chair and scarf down our lunch. We end up on that end of town a lot and I am happy we will have a place to go to have a great lunch. Looking forward to our next trip up to Nanaimo.

The first time I went, I checked the hours on facebook and the website and confirmed they were open, we heard a lot of good things so decided to take my husband for lunch. We get there and they were closed with a sign saying closed for training. Not sure why it couldn't have been updated on facebook or website. Went last night and they were out of almost everything. Got a veggie dish to be heated up at home. It was very disappointing. There was no flavour on the veggies and it was a very bland. So 2 tries and we are done.
