Bidra med feedbackWe had a fantastic lunch at this restaurant. I ordered the fish curry which was absolutely amazing. My wife tried the egg curry and described it as "delicious." The dosa was very flavorful and had a crispy texture. The owners were extremely friendly, warm, and hospitable.
After sampling several Indian restaurants in Nagoya, we decided to try Karnataka. The dosa combination for dinner was fantastic, and it comes with unlimited rice and sambar. The owners are fluent in English. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
I am a big fan of this place. It is easy to get vegan options and the standard lunch plate is usually completely vegan except for the chai. Even if it's not, the staff is understanding and willing to accommodate your vegan needs. The food here is different from your typical Japanese Indian restaurant, reminding me more of the South Indian food I enjoyed in NYC. The lunch plate is tasty, affordable, and offers a wide variety of dishes. They even give generous portions, although I've had to start declining the second helpings because it's too much for me! The restaurant is also kid-friendly, with a communal room upstairs for families with children. I feel comfortable letting my kids be themselves there, as other customers have lively kids of their own. If you don't speak Japanese, the owner can speak English and there is often a young Indian waiter who can also communicate in English.
I have been here twice. The first visit was disappointing, as the owner/chef had a bad attitude, but seems like it was just a bad day for him. I tried again today for lunch, and I was impressed with their service (two new lovely waitresses). Food was also better and quite happy with their overall performance. The owner/chef understands what vegan means and easy to order vegan meal. Spiciness has been adjusted for Japanese (which is nice for me) so ask for extra spicy if you like it spicy. I look forward to going there again.
We have dared karnataka after trying some of the other Indian restaurants in nagoya. the Dosa combination at dinner was great, and it is served with unlimited rice and sambar (soup). the owners speak English. would highly recommend.
