Zum Brunnstein - Munich

Popped in for lunch, wanting some local food rather than eat at the plethora of local pizza restaurants. Fells like an authentic German eaterie, from the menu to the waiting staff and the locals eating there. Food portions huge, and v tasty. Would definitely go back.

From the minute we walked in we were made to feel welcome. We had just arrived from a long flight from the US with suitcases in hand and in need of food and drink. The restaurant staff and patrons could not have made us feel more welcome as they helped us find homes for out luggage. Our amazing waitress kindly provided us with English menus when it was clear that we were not as conversant as we should have been. The food was very fresh and authentic and the portions were very generous. There was no effort to rush us through our meal, which allowed us to take in the manner in which locals experienced the neighborhood.

This is a great choice if you are staying in the Ostbahnof area of Munich. Just a short walk from the station will get you to this friendly eating establishment. Upon entry, we felt we were the only tourists in the place, and it quickly began filling up with local folks. The usual selection of beers, home cooked German fare sausages were wonderful and super friendly staff. A fun time if you’re looking for something more local.

An authentic German/ Bavarian brewery restaurant serving very good food and beer with the classic langsam (slow) service. The brewery, Maierbraeu, is located just outside of Munich in Altomunster. This restaurant serves only their beer -- and delicious it is, too!The portions are extremely large, so be warned. The classics were great: weiss wurst, schnitzels of all kinds. Conveniently located by Ostbahnhof.

Ate here on our last day in Munich. Service eventually friendly though a bit stand-offish at first. Good food and big portions. Good VFM too. Only one niggle: Took an age to get the bill at the end, which meant us missing a train to the airport. Good Authentic Bavarian cuisine. Would and will return next time we are in the vicinity.
