Red Barn Cafe - Mount Vernon

Cute and friendly. The food was awesome. I had county fried steak...nice pepper taste the gravy and steak batter was crispy. The hamburgers were reported to also be good. Staff exceptionally friendly.

For a place off the beaten path I was hoping they'd have better prices. I'm used to hamburgers costing $16 in the northeast, but this place in a lower cost of living area charging that much seems like a bit of a rip off.

We both ordered a DARK 4 piece chicken dinner. I was brought out 3 pieces, my husband was brought out 3 pieces with 1 wing. We were told to get our sides from the buffet. I do not get a buffet because I want fresh food that no one besides the kitchen people have touched. We were also told to get the chicken pieces we were missing off the buffet. The entire time we were there, only 1 lonely dried out chicken breast was on the buffet. I have never had such horrible service at the Red Barn. I live nowhere close, so it's always a special trip to go.

Cheeseburger was pretty good service was decent Don't like the fact that I have to pay extra to use my credit card.
