Bidra med feedbackVisiting from out of state and Me and grandma needed to grab some lunch for the kids one day. This place came up on Yelp and we decided to give it a try : We ordered a cheese pizza, salad and breadsticks. The kids had a pizza feast, nothing left of our 18 pie when they were done with it. The crust was crunchy and delicious. Setting is very much like an old world diner, very chill and comfy. With large booths and some bar chairs. Very impressed and we'd come back for more.
Ordered a couple slices of their Speciality pizza to go. A nice looking, roomy restaurant with an inviting outside patio area. Would be a fun spot on a warmer day. Their slices are large and great tasting! Certainly will be coming back again. Great customer service. Just a great experience.
We searched Yelp for a dog friendly restaurant and this one popped up. Jackpot !!. We sat outside in the shade where it was very quiet with a breeze blowing through the patio. We ordered inside and chilled outside with the dog. We are visiting from another city so we had to bring the mutt and were very pleased to find this great place. We ordered a calzone and a 10 pizza. The calzone was big enough to choke a horse. It was really good too. The prices were great too. The wait staff were on their A game as well. You just can 't ask for anything else.
All that being said, I absolutely did not want my review to precipitate the place closing entirely. It had been successful in that location for about 15 years I think, an just needed the consistency of good pizza makers which they often had...and frankly the West Ashley location was still making bad pizza the times I visited. The N. Chas location just had bizarrely apathetic zombie-like service. Plus who the Hell wants to go to Rivers Avenue...for anything?
If the pizza was amazing I 'd give it 2 stars, but since it was only so-so, this rating is based on the experience and the service. First of all I have to admit that I hate the set-up where I go in, order at the counter, then sit at a table. I prefer to sit and order a drink, read through a menu, and take my time to place my order. Had I known this was that type of set up, we 'd have looked up the menu online, called ahead our order, then picked it up. So, my husband and I entered the restaurant and no one else was waiting to order. As we looked at the board to decide what we wanted to order, the girl at the register, with a long brown pony tail, looked annoyed that we weren 't ready right away. We only took a minute, then ordered an 18 inch pepperoni and a beer and wine. We had seen pictures of pizzas with more exotic toppings, but they looked to have more topping than cheese/sauce/crust (which if you like that, this is your kind of place, we like to taste the actual pizza). She took our credit card, and we were given a receipt with a space for a tip. Um, ok, who am I tipping and how do I know what to tip when we haven 't been served? She also handed us a number to take to our table. Husband and I looked around and since it was so hot in the front area, we walked over to the center of the restaurant to put down our number and my purse. Just as we approached the table, the girl yells out, Your drinks?!?! I looked back and saw she had them sitting next to the register at this point so I went back up to retrieve them. As we sat waiting, and drinking our drinks, realizing we 'd have to go back up to the register for a 2nd drink by the time our pizza arrived, and watching the youthful staff slug around and make jokes with each other, husband and I decided to get our pizza to go. My husband walked back up front, but the girl at the register was walking toward the back. She saw my husband approaching, but ignored him. A minute later when she returned from the back, my husband said, Excuse me ma 'am, we 'll actually take that to-go to which she actually rolled her eyes and did not respond! Luckily we did not wait much longer for our pizza to arrive. Like I mentioned, it was ok . A bit undercooked for my taste, but the right amount of cheese-to-sauce ratio. And we are pizza connoisseurs, just read our other reviews. I just can 't get past being treated rudely when we are spending our money in your establishment.
