Bidra med feedbackThe day was filled with fun laughters I have never seen them so happy running around, chasing each other without feeling tired but the parents were already down to their last remaining energy. Even the youngest one who normally had afternoon nap was still up and running. When we finally reached our hotel room, I had to settle their hungry tummies. Lucky for us, there was a pizza place inside the hotel itself so one large pizza and they were full. Both of us, however, have something else in mind. After everyone had shower, we walked to Hotel Pension Grimus which was literally next door our destination? Kaptans Restaurant which is renowned for its traditional European alpine ambience and excellent cuisine. Lamb belly, quark, black garlic, chimmi churri. I'm not exactly a fan of lamb belly but boy this was something else.. melt in the mouth and full of flavour. Kassler, fried sprouts, braised cabbage and baked apple to the uninitiated, Kassler is a German name given to a cured and slightly smoked cut of pork (similar to gammon). Suffice to say that I enjoyed each and every cut that I put into my mouth. Nothing like a glass of the highly rated Philip Shaw's Architect Chardonnay would not help to lift the dining experience. I ordered a side of salad and a dessert for the kids to munch on while we enjoyed the slow yet satisfying dinner. We were actually exhausted but nothing beats a dinner like this.
Good food in Mt Buller. Not much choices are available and the food and service here is pretty good. Desserts are really good too! Tip: Have your dinner at 6pm when they open because it gets very packed very fast.
Great food and service. Had the steak and veal kids meal. Thick and juicy piece of meat. Certainly one of the best in Mt Buller.
Undoubtedly the best restaurant on the mountain. The Grimus family mourn the recent passing of Hans, who established the hotel and restaurant with typical European style. The Schnitzel is a Buller iconic meal, but the smallish menu offers quality hearty meals. The restaurant is decorated with pictures and objet recalling the history of Mt. Buller, and particularly Hans and his beloved skiing dog Captain. There is a small gemutlich bar, and much to be complimented. Booking well in advance is essential.
Nice place with European atmosphere, schnitzel a bit disappointing (not crispy) for the price.
