Bidra med feedbackMy partner and I have visited this quaint little restaurant twice. Dema, our charming waitress from Bhutan, has excellent knowledge of the menu. The restaurant allows guests to bring their own alcohol with a very reasonable corkage fee. The food is freshly prepared, although it may take a little longer, the wait is well worth it. We began our meal with the aloo tikki, spiced potato patties with chat masala and a sweet and tangy tamarind sauce. It was very flavorful and had the perfect amount of spice. For our main course, we shared the chicken bhuna masala, tender chicken cooked in a traditional sauce with cumin, ginger, garlic, and tomato. It was served with fluffy rice and a delicious butter naan.
It is a small, quite new place, quite upscale decor, not licensed. I ate there once and found the Gaumen distributor delicious, so went again with the family on a Sunday night. the waitress was very pleasant. only a few more to 19.30 a.m., and only one other person came in to pick up a farewell. our escape from samosas was definitiw made to house and delicious flaky, but rather oily. the main thing was on average pleasant, but too hot for one of our party. we have all asked for medium, but it is my personal opinion that the only possibility to change the heat of a curry sauce in the last minute is to add chili powder and that the heat is not the same as the heat in a curry that was cooked from the beginning to a certain heat. Perhaps the answer could be to offer a hot chili-rita for everyone who wants to warm up their curry? our meal costs $30 per head without drinks or cork (we have taken nothing with us)
Upon arrival, you are greeted with a complimentary bowl of papadums, a nice touch as you peruse the menu. There is no rush here, allowing for ample time to relax and enjoy the company of friends or loved ones. I recommend trying dishes beyond the typical butter chicken or korma. The samosa chat has become our go-to appetizer, as it is bursting with flavor. The mint yogurt sauce provides a refreshing contrast to the crispy vegetables and the soft potatoes in the samosa. For those who need a little relief from the spice, a mango lassi is a great choice. During our last visit, we tried the paneer tikka, paneer hariyali, malai kebab curry, and dal tadka, all of which were made mild to suit our preferences. Each dish was incredibly tasty and well worth the price, as evidenced by the leftovers we happily took home for lunch the next day.
That was our first visit in this restaurant and it won't be our last. we will work our way through the menu. the rich and beautiful taste of all the dishes we tried were amazing.
We have been here several times and been thru a rollercoaster ride of quality. On the last occasion I am afraid we have lost patience food was poorly prepared (by their previous standards), tasted very ordinary. That said, the place was very busy with...only one serive staff, so maybe the kitchen was under stress.......
