Bidra med feedbackNo social distancing enforcements. All tables in use and full. People sitting at the bar and drinking. 8 people in line for takeout (all masked). No one was working the bar, so getting takeout orders was very slow. I could see my food bagged up behind the counter, but no one was helping takeout customers. Waited inside for 15 minutes to pay for and receive our order. Fish burrito is so darn good, though.
Not worth the $75 my wife and I just spent. We've been meaning to try this place and certainly won't be back. The food was lack luster at best. My wife's tacos were flavorless and pathetic. Her fish taco was down right awful. My chimichanga was soggy and overly packed with rice, barely any actual meat. In fact, the food came out so quickly that I'm not surprised with the awful quality. The margaritas were decent but very salty. The waitress was a real lifeless gem. She was rude to my wife, she didn't bring us water or silverware. Other than the food coming out almost instantly, she was incredibly slow and never showed an ounce of concern with our dining experience. But hey, the chips and salsa were good... if you're looking for GOOD Mexican, do yourself a favor and go to La Unica. Don't waste your money here.
So here we are for the second of Yelp 's two Big Nights In... after much back and forth about how to avoid cooking and help save the world we decided to come back for fajitas to go plus a relleno. my lovely bride called the order in and after locating my shoes and mask off I went to get dinner. upon arrival I noticed that the diners were seated plenty far apart for their un maskedness to not matter so much, the hostess directed me to the side door for pick up orders and off I went. got home in about five minutes and after some quick pics we dished up the foods and bevies. while MLB assembled a fajita I mixed organic margaritas before tucking into my relleno. there 's something so right about seasoned beefs stuffed into a poblano pepper topped with melty cheeses and red sauce; crunchy chips on the side make for tasty bites. the fajitas were excellent even without the sizzle of cast iron service; soft tortillas filled with peppers and onions lightly wilted but still firm enough to hold their own flavors mingling with the chickens and shrimps. the salads were pleasingly large and well composed: lettuces, tomatoes, sour cream, and guacs, plus rice and beans. all this and a bag of chips! still, there was plenty of food left over for dinner monday night and it was still whirlable. rounding up for being open and very nearly perfect despite the covid and some other unfortunate things and stuff...
So this is a tale of many experiences packed in one night. I am always on the hunt for good Mexican food and still looking for the elusive hidden gem. I had heard a number of my friends talk about Tequilas and had always wondered about it. Finally had an opportunity to try it and I would not go back. We walked in and there was rap music playing in the background. SERIOUSLY? I love all kinds of music but didn't expect that in a Mexican restaurant. The second odd thing was that all of the staff were kids. Not really an adult among them. It was just odd. The third thing was there was ketchup on the table. Ketchup, in a Mexican restaurant. What the hell is going on. Honestly that should have been the sign to leave but you never know and at that point, I was committed. Chips and salsa arrived and it was basically ketchup. Now I am thinking what have I gotten myself into. It's got to get better. We ordered and I got the carnitas (by the way, our server had never heard of carnitas) and my wife ordered the carne asada. Food came and the carnitas was actually pretty good. The rice and beans were bad but look on the bright side. My wife's carne asada was severely overdone and she was at her breaking point. I would Not recommend this place and anyone who says this is good had never had good Mexican food in their life.
They put so much salt on my chicken quesadilla I'm surprised my heart didn't explode. I was like what are they trying to hide rotten chicken with all the salt. I explained too much salt and they did nothing to fix the situation. The pico sauce was old like it's been sitting around not fringe rated for days. The food was awful. We wasted $35. If I could give a negative 0 I would. They didn't try it was like send it they eat anything mentality. Just NASTY!
