Mochica - Montréal

My wife is Peruvian and we make a point of looking for Peruvian restaurants in big cities. he paid himself. it had just begun to rain when we found this place and were greeted by friendly multilingual waiters/manager claude. we were at the place. after lunch the pisco sours (excellent) 2 were for 1. the menu was exactly what we hoped. I had an empanada de carne for entrada, and my wife ordered papas a la huancaína both excellent. then we shared a hearty bowl of arroz con mariscos seasoned perfectly to remember coast peru. there is a dessert menu, but we passed, already more than satisfied and very satisfied. the high quality of eating and service means that we return to this place when we return to montreal. I shocked that there were no Sunday divers with us, really excellent culinary experience, and the rain was over when we were finished!

Above St-Louis Square in the Plateau district this was a great little restaurant. We went to dinner at 18:30 on a nice Saturday night. The restaurant was still quiet as the main crowd had not arrived. Our waiter was great. He easily answered our questions and addressed allergy concerns. We had a white Peruvian SauvigJustnon Blanc, which was only beautiful and light. We didn't have to taste the Peruvian wines when we were in Peru! Both meals were very tasteful and well presented. It was a wonderful evening

I'm not one who can really judge food from Peru. I was not in this country, and usually I am not venerated with South American cuisine. I went with a group, some of which had been in Peru, so that I had 'm basing my 4* on their comments....First this is a beautiful place, with Peruvian masks on the walls and small 'digs' here and there under glass floor, showing an archaeological excavation and what had been found. There are also erotic sculptures in clay here and there. The service was great. The woman waiting for us was patient and explained what was, what was. There was a crab remover that was shared at our table of 8 that I thought was really good. Those in the group that had the Alpaca kept it wonderful, similar to Steak. Others had lamb. I had grilled scallops. There were 4 and grilled slightly, surrounded by a piquant sauce, some Maische Yams, a spear of asparagus, and some veg I didn't know that thought-knowed squash but raw. The ubiquitous Quinoa was on my record and most other records. Since it was my birthday, I got a fruity dessert, pieces of what strawberries might have been in gelatin of a kind of berries. I had a bite and it was so sweet that it was for me. I passed it around the table and everyone had something and enjoyed it. I decided for just filled water, but pretty good everyone had the 2 for 1 drink, that is a favorite in Peru. Most liked it, but I didn't notice some finished. I will not go into my taste buds for the meal I had, but for me, it's just not the kind of food I enjoy. All the others loved it so, so a good review.

Warm reception, good explanation of food (important as I am gluten intolerant . Good drinks and food in a beautiful and stylish decor. Will be back...

We wanted to try a local Peruvian restaurant. We have visited Peru in the past and cuisine is definetly part of the local culture. The service was top notch. Very attentive and fast service. We ordered 3 appetizers Ceviche, chucharonne, Yuka fries and 4 main...course plates, 2 alpaga steaks, beef and octopus. Very tasty food. By far the octupus surpassed everyone's tastebuds. Reservations is recommended.
