Bidra med feedbackVisited for the second day in a row! We were staying nearby and decided to come here for breakfast. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. This restaurant is popular among university students, but people of all ages are welcomed.
The chocolate croissants and decaf coffee at this restaurant are wonderful. They are the perfect treat while waiting for your next flight. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of desserts and sandwiches to choose from.
This Java U is located in a basement on Sherbrooke Street in Westmount. It is down a few steps, and larger than it seems from the outside. Unfortunately, when we visited there was a certain amount of confusion about our order, resulting in us not getting what we asked for. That being said, the food was fine as were the coffees (a filter and a café au lait).
I ordered a smoothie and requested mango juice. However, I was disappointed to see the server add a large amount of ice and use a machine to prepare it. I felt it was overpriced at $4.49. I also tried the salad for $3.49, but it seemed like it had been sitting out for a long time. In my opinion, airport food is of better quality. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
This cafe across from McGill University is a nice spot to sit and have a light meal and/or a coffee. The service is friendly, the food is good and the atmosphere is relaxed. The prices are also relatively reasonable making it a decent value. I had just finished conducting my business at McGill and wanted a quick lunch on the way back to my hotel. I had noted this place on my way over to the University and decided to give it a try. The storefront exhibited a modern but unremarkable look. The interior was more spacious than I anticipated but was nice enough and included a few soft seats. The service was walk-up style. The gentleman who waited on me was friendly and efficient. The menu was a combination of coffee shop, breakfast and deli items. I chose the salad buffet which basically allowed me to construct a salad of my choosing. I could choose nine items and my waiter mixed my selections for me. It was $9.99 for the salad and $2 additional to make a protein one of the nine selections. I chose chicken as one of my options. The salad was delicious and hit the spot nicely, as did their dark roast coffee. It was quite a satisfying lunch. The prices were not unreasonable. My total bill with tax and a small tip was $18 CAD. This was a decent value in my estimation. Overall, this is a pretty good cafe that offers good food at a decent price. The dining area provides a nice atmosphere to enjoy a meal and the servers are pleasant and efficient. If you are in the area and are looking for a lunch place, this is a good option.
