Frida Mexican restaurant - Montréal

The restaurant is small and cozy, and the food has an authentic Mexican taste, reminiscent of a family dinner in Mexico. I would have given it 5 stars, but the food was a bit salty and the service could have been friendlier. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, with a true ethnic vibe. This visit to Montreal not only allowed me to explore the city, but also treated me to an amazing Thai massage at Bodhi Thai massage, conveniently located next to Frida Mexican restaurant. Both places were just a short walk from the Lionel Groulx subway station, which was especially appreciated in the cold weather.

I came for Mexican food after the best Thai massage in the studio right next door. So was definitely a pleasant cultural theme night for me.

I ordered a tortilla soup and a tilapia taco. The taco was fresh, hot, and decent, but on the small side and nothing special. The tortilla soup arrived within 30 seconds of my order, indicating that it was likely pre-made or sitting out. It was lukewarm at best and was basically just a bowl of broth with a few pieces of avocado and lots of tortilla strips, lacking the typical ingredients like Papilla chiles, Chicharrón, fresh cheese cubes, and sour cream. As someone who has enjoyed tortilla soup many times in North America, this was the worst I have ever had. The service was nice at this charming little restaurant, but the food was underwhelming.

I loved this restaurant from my first visit. A few friends and I all enjoyed the excellent service and high quality of the dishes. The portion sizes were a bit small, but the food was delicious and fresh.

What a superb find for a meal. The food was fresh, delicious, flavourful and tasted fabulous. We had soup, guacamole and chips, tacos and quesadillas. And their 911 sauce was full of flavour with a kick! Margaritas were excellent. The small restaurant was filled with...Mexican treasures for purchase. The staff was pleasant, friendly and we laughed and smiled all through our meal. Highly recommend.
