I was in Montpellier for a long time and didn't even know it existed. What a find! Delicious fondue, we had a cheese and a bourignonne between 5 of us, and with the best will in the world we couldn't finish the cheese!... It was delicious. I was a little surprised at the price, 22 euros per person for the cheese fondue, but at the end of the evening we paid 37 euros each, for the two fondues, two bottles of wine, a chocolate fondue for 4 and a banana nip for 1. Extremely good price for a good evening meal in a very nice environment.
Wonderful restaurant! We had a fondue vigneronne (red wine fondue 24 € per person) in which we ourselves cooked beef. That was a pretty fun experience! The restaurant seems very authentic, it is definitely not one of these tourist traps! It is a 15-minute walk from the city centre. While we were there, it was obvious that the other customers were regular as it seemed that they knew the owner, this is always a big indicator that the restaurant is good. Definitely recommended!
For the start you could miss the entrance of the restaurant if you don't know that there is one : Thats almost the only think that i can argue about! We had the apartment like 20m from the restaurant i we almost missed it. The...owner is really a nice persone even if he doesnt speak english at all. So we had to put all our French knowledge on the table to understand the menu, actually he was really nice and tried to explain to us the menu with different words and as we speak Italian we got is solved without much troubles. At the end we ordered a classic cheese fondue that was absolutely exquisite and we finished it as they say ala france with the egg, We got some local wine and it was good to! As the fondue filled us till the eyes we couldn't get even any dessert. Other plates seemed very good too i was especially interested into the escargot plates that a table near us ordered.
A little off the beaten track but worth the effort. Wonderful ambience and a very nice greeting to get us started. Meet, cheese and chocolate fondues were all first class. Would happily revisit again. Visited as a family with teenagers who had their first proper...fondue and loved the whole experience. 10/10
