Antipasteria Pizzeria Il Botteghino Canneto Pi

Do not go here if you like American style thick pizza. They serve lovely thin and very crispy Italian pizza to eat in or takeaway. They are clearly busy and we had to wait 40 minutes for our takeaway but it was well worth it; and it is rather pleasant sitting on the wall outside watching the evening turn into night. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is that one of the pizzas was wrong (although still very tasty).

We happened on this place this evening whilst driving over the hills. We have very little Italian; the owners have very little English. We also had to cater for me a gluten free vegetarian! This is primarily a pizzeria and not one serving GF pizza. Not withstanding that (or the fact that they were fully booked with people sitting out in the road! , they went through everything in their kitchen to provide me with the best antipasti I have ever had. My dinner companions had great pizzas but I had the better deal this time. 3 big dinners and 3 soft drinks all for 32 euros a bargain! The couple running the restaurant together with their son and daughter (I think couldn't have made us more welcome. I commend this to anyone wanting an enjoyable meal. I love his place. I was in a party of seven. The patron serves dishes of anti pasta to share. All beautifully prepared, no decisions, just enjoy and chat. The pizzas were cooked to order on delicious thin bases, not overwhelming but just enough. Wine and water are topped up generously all evening. A wonderful experience.
