Whaling Station Steakhouse - Monterey

I took 3 bites from a 75 dollar piece of prime and was ready to walk out They asked me if i wanted a box I said no i wouldn't give it to my dog 200 hundred dollar meal that was the worst prime rib i have had in my life!!!!

The food was okay. The prime rib was a little bit salty, and the horseradish sauce that came with it was bitter. However, the biggest problem was the fruit flies. I counted at least 8 or 9 that ended up in either my drink or my water. I would be afraid how many more were at our table. The service was very good. They were very attentive and always nearby to address a deficiency when one existed (e.g. empty glasses). The fact they did not catch any of the glasses that had floating fruit flies on the table and remove them is the only reason they did not get a 5.

Everything was good but Lobster Tail was very tough. We had one the night before at Kona that was amazing. That was my only negative issue regarding the food. We are visitors and we've been going to the Whaling Station for years, we do miss Alfredo it won't be the same without him. It was a mistake to let him go for sure.

Ordered Prime Rib.....was cold! Don't like the idea of the twice banked potato... much better butter, sour cream, chives offered separately....very disappointed with cold prime rib at $66!

Our server was amazing! She was very versed in the menu, did not rush us, and very pleasant. The food was amazing, had the Wellington, hands down delicious. Definitely recommend coming here and we'll be back.
