Bidra med feedbackThe house dish Abalonetti (calamari filets) is absolutely incredible!
We took to go: A Caesar salad for $17 without taxes and tips), including only green salad and croutons, where is the chicken????, a caprese salad for $16 without taxes and tips) for 1 tomato and a piece of mozzarella and a few black olives..... We are in the USA, we are in Monterey but that is not a reason to abuse like this and make fun of customers. Total bill $73 for 2 salads and a bottle of wine $23). Just a shame. I gave 2 for speed of service
The family and I (quite a large group) visited on a Friday night for a little celebration. We had made reservations a few weeks prior and requested the outdoor patio area. The staff at the restaurant offered us an inside room as the patio might be a little cold in April, but we opted for the patio regardless. As we arrived, the patio area was set up with two long tables which we asked to be made into one long one. The staff was receptive and made it happen. They also fired up the outdoor heaters for us.Abalonetti’s is a seafood restaurant at heart, although they have other options for non-seafood eaters. However, their seafood was, in a word, spectacular! We had crab cakes, garlic bread, and calamari as appetizers. I was going to order a large seafood meal, but I couldn’t stop eating the crab cakes and calamari. Both were so incredibly tasty!I settled on the Seafood Penne which was fantastic! The fish and shellfish I ate couldn’t have been fresher if I had gathered it myself. My family ate various menu items including sourdough clam chowder bowls, Linguine Alfredo with bay shrimp, lobster ravioli with grilled prawns, gnocchi with two sauces, fish and chips, and a cheeseburger. Everyone said that their meals were great. The service was also fantastic! No one at the table ever had an empty glass. The wait staff checked on us often and made the dining experience much better. This is the second time I’ve been to this restaurant, and I can easily see why it is a favorite spot for lunch, dinner, and drinks. I’ll admit that I won’t be going to Monterey again in the near future, but when I do, I’ll absolutely visit here.
It was a sunny day so we ate outside on the patio. We arrived at 11:45 and there weren't very many people in the restaurant. By noon it was busy. It took a very long time to get our order taken and a very long time for the food to arrive. We generally have good service at this restaurant, but today was an exception.
Abalonetti's is a nice outdoor dining choice on the wharf. Service is good. Food is good (calamari) but I didn't care for all the bell peppers in the vegetable saute. The brownie sundae was spectacular. Happy hour ends at 4 pm, why? We wanted to enjoy a few drinks before dinner. So we did, 15 steps across the wharf where happy hour lasts till 6 pm.
