Bidra med feedbackWe were advised to book a table which we did, but even so we waited half an hour to be seated but were given complimentary drinks to pass the time. However, after what we ate I would’ve waited hours !!! Absolutely stunning food cooked to perfection, all of it no matter what we had ordered tasted wonderful and I would eat it all over again !! Service was very good and we managed to overcome the language barrier. All of the staff were friendly and full of smiles it really was a fantastic place to spend an evening., can’t recommend it highly enough. Be prepared to shout at each other as it’s a very loud atmosphere but half the time we were too busy eating !!!!
I have been coming to this place on both business and pleasure trips for about 16 years now and have been remiss in not reviewing it. Just ate there 2 nights this week while staying nearby with my wife and realized I needed to let everyone know about it. The town of Montelupo is about a 15 minute train ride west of Florence and adjoins the much smaller village of Capraia where we stay when visiting the Florence area. Osteria del Sole is probably best known for their steaks and they have everything from a fantastic filet to the biggest Porterhouse I have ever seen. The giant Porterhouse requires at least 2 to eat it and they bring it to your table for approval. It hangs off the platter and is really impressive. The meat is incredible quantity and grilled with only olive oil and salt, in the “Bistecca alla Firenze” fashion and you’ll wonder why you ever do it any other way. Great selection of local wines by the bottle or the glass, but AVOID the red table wine that is sitting in the traditional wrapped Chianti-looking bottle on the table. Bitter tasting and the ONLY thing that is not terrific about this place. Look for the bald waiter named “Salvo” and ask to be seated at one of his tables. Great waiter and we really enjoyed his attentive service. Phone +39 0571 51130 E-mail [hidden email]
Amazing food. Just perfect! It seems all the locals eat here too A beautiful ambiance of Italian voices with no gobshite Americans to spoil the serenity. Cost around €65 for several pasta and pizza courses plus 4 lagers and and 2 glasses of wine.
I had lunch with a friend on Sunday. we ordered a starter for minimum two people but indicated on the menu the price per person (depending on me). a head for an appetizer, a first, a dessert and lt of house wine. excessive expenses to eat something that...(I'm sorry because the name had inspired our choice)
Pizza and chocolate cake last night the best I could eat, good.
