Bidra med feedbackWe booked this place last minute as the primary choices were all booked up. The reviews in the Internet were not that good but we decided to give it a go. On the arrival we got a comfortable table and ordered two Menus for 18 euro with the Truffade and vine. Ladies on the service were helpful and nice, ready to chat and joke with customers, service was super quick and Entrée and the Plat were tasty. The only negative point was the Blueberry tart, it was not really fresh, don’t take it, but the ice-cream was great. We chatted about the bad reviews with the owner and he explained his point of view. Nice evening.
Wandered round town looking for somewhere open in the evening off-season and came across this place which was very pleasant
Nice looking place, bright with period features. Waitress could be a good poker player yet service was reasonably prompt and polite. Cheese selection was very good. My coq au vin proved to be an interesting enigma. The picture below shows 1 of the two knuckles served which where predominantly bone with some tasty meat around it. I struggled to actually identify what the meat was and we even speculated they may breed huge capons up here. It was actually quite nice so I 'm merely curious as to what I may actually have been eating if chicken what type? When it first arrived I actually thought the waitress had misheard me and I 'd got a beef. Otherwise an agreeable eatery.
The plat du jour was faux filet with blue d'Avergne and frites (steak and fries) it was very tasty and delicious! The glass of house red wine was pretty bad, by French standards...no excuse for bad wine in this country! The dessert was a cream cake with caramel sauce and it was incredible. The staff was somewhat welcoming, but the interior was charming and inviting. hey have a collection of antique radios from the 40s 50s that were lovely. We'd definitely go again!
Cash only and no one speaks English. Adequate for a drink. Didn’t eat, can’t report on the food. Local wine is nice.
