I love the fried rice and pork chop here. The owner is very friendly and the food is delicious. I always order takeaway there and the food is quick and always yummy.
This restaurant is a great option for satisfying your cravings with some takeout. It is definitely one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area, offering generous portion sizes and fresh ingredients. The prices are reasonable, especially if you stick to the lunch specials or wok noodles. However, some dishes on the menu may be priced like those at a high-end restaurant but only offer takeout quality and service. Despite the area becoming more affluent, there are still many people who prefer authentic dishes at a good value. Personally, I would choose to travel to a neighboring suburb for Chinese dishes that cater to a more traditional customer base, rather than the semi-westernized 'Aussie' style cooking here. If I want frozen dumplings, I can easily buy them at a supermarket and steam them myself for a fraction of the cost. If you do decide to dine here, I would recommend sticking to the wok dishes.
The Szechuan Chicken at King Wok is absolutely delicious and one of the best I've ever tasted. I can't wait to try more items from their menu. Finally, Ashburton has a proper Chinese restaurant and I won't be leaving anytime soon!
The gentleman behind the counter is truly the namesake of this business. The man IS the KING of the WOK. No questions asked, the way he moves skillfully between ingredients, gracefully steaming, boiling and frying your food to perfection is a work of art in itself.Once you open the treasure that is a KING WOK noodle box, you are greeted with an aroma that is unmistakable quality that comes from fresh ingredients and a skillful hand. The noodles and dumplings leave you wanting nothing more than to get on your knees and praise the good lord who put KING WOK in such a central location in Ashburton.Hail the king!
