Bidra med feedbackWe all enjoyed our meal but had a sour taste when the waitress asked hiw many bottles we had drunk. We told her 3 , & asked why, she then told us there was an $8 corkage charge per bottle. This is a little restaurant in a suburban shopping area and not a swanky in town restaurant where you might expect to pay a little more. We hadnt seen the small print at the bottom of the menu, so our fault. Lesson learnt but we wont be back which is a shame as the food was very nice.
My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here. The restaurant wasn't crowded which was nice. Service was fast and efficient. The food was piping hot, portions were reasonable in that there was more than enough and very delicious. Take away did a roaring trade. Will be going back as there were some traditional items that need to be tasted.
We've been regular diners at Fortune Cookie since it opened about 15 years ago. The food and service are reliably good, and over the years, the owner and wait staff have come to know us by name. The menu is varied and I think we've tried just about everything on it and haven't been disappointed. BYO wine or purchase drinks from the list. Phone orders/take away meals are available. They need a website. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and always nicely heated/cooled, depending on the season.
We decided to give Fortune Cookie at Melba another go as we had not eaten from there for years. Mistake. It is typical greasy westernised chinese food. Order was fast but food below average. Up in the middle of the night with heartburn from the amount of grease in the food and it didn't taste like it should. Now I know why it has been years between meals from here. Won't be back.
Regular haunt for us, being only a couple of suburbs away. Unpretentious but comfortable suburban location delivers great quality food. Menu has all the usual hit parade of chinese favourites, and the chefs specialties are all finding their way on to my personal list. The duck dishes are great, so are the pepper hot pots. I occasionally end up at the higher profile equivalent places in the trendy restaurant districts, and then I find my way back here. Don't ever change! :)
