Owner started by asking me what my spice level was, found that quite intriguing, She then prepared a custom meal and mentioned it would take hour hour to prepare as she does fresh food. Was worth the wait. Had Mutton biryani and butter chicken.
Was in Mississauga for a show and dining at Ancila's Indian Cuisine was suggested. Had called to make reservations and Ancila explained that she only prepares meals based on orders. We decided to not pre order with the understanding that it would take some time for the dishes to be prepared. Ancilia came to the table to discuss the dishes we wanted and the spice level. Each dish had their own unique flavor . Best tandoori chicken ever. We also had butter chicken, mutter paneer, chicken biryani, mutton and butter naan.It was well worth the wait time. If you don't want to wait, preorder. An extremely great cuisine experience in a restaurant with homemade food.
We went to the place, attracted by great reviews. The large restaurant had only client. Soon the one woman-army - chef/server/cashier/receptionist, all rolled into one - Mrs. Kamath emerged and tried to shoe us away, saying she had pending orders and that we would have to wait 45 mins or more. Amused and intrigued we decided to wait. Gradually 4 more diners walked in as we sat patiently on empty tummies. All of us struck up a good-natured conversation and kept laughing at the irony that we were willing to pay good money to be kept hungry. The other four were regulars, it transpired. We got our food eventually after 140 minutes, which was a bit underwhelming, but the experience was great.
I have just returned from my hotel after an excellent meal at Ancila's. Although we were given the menu Ancila came from the kitchen to ask the spice tolerance of our palates. On a scale of 1 to 10 I went for an 8 or 9 so Ancila excitedly informed me she had a recipe, of her own, which was cooked in the Bombay style. All I can say is Wow! The curry was packed with flavours and had a good level of heat from the green chillies. I had it with a garlic Naan. The service was a little slow but as Ancila explained "All meals are made by me and to order". Well worth the wait. I will be back!
We had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant that we had been eager to try. It exceeded our expectations. The owner warmly greeted us.
