Bidra med feedbackTerrible. Spare your pallet and your wallet. We went here with a friend who is a local and is unfortunately under the impression that this is 'reasonable '. Upon getting there, their back patio was strewn with garbage and a disconnected jacuzzi tub? Confusing. While I can 't complain about the service- our server was friendly and prompt, the food was almost inedible. I ordered sweet potato fries and the deep-fried pickles. They were both undercooked, yet a dark, dirty brown in colour because the fryer oil most likely hasn 't been changed since a T-Rex manned the grill. The taste was horrible, and the texture disappointing- even with boat-loads of the ketchup that came out in a beat-up/worn bottle. I mean, come on, it 's hard to mess-up fried food that comes in frozen bulk. The washrooms were filthy. I took my little girl into one of the washrooms to discover that there was a smidgen of soap left in the dispenser and absolutely no paper towel left, even though it was fairly early in the day. The toilets were abysmal... I don 't need to go into detail there. I myself went to use one of the washrooms near the back patio in hopes of finding paper towel, and while there was supply there, the cleanliness of those washrooms were even worse than the first, so I decided to hold my bladder for home. The best part had to be when one of the food prep workers wandered to the door of the back kitchen and shouted into whoever was toiling away back there, that the should invest in the paper-covered straws in the future because he kept finding long hairs in the ones he was doling out with the current beverages. At that point in my experience, that was beyond amusing. The decor while trying was not appealing and gave the place a dingy feel with a desperate attempt at looking somewhat relevant. So onto the price. For two children, two adults who ordered the regular fries/burger/grilled-cheese/salad/a split, small chocolate shake and two adult waters fare? (And the 5/6 year old wouldn 't eat the grilled cheese, or the fries which are favourites of theirs) A whopping $68 before tipping the server, which again I will add was deserved as she was friendly and astute. Upon hearing that price, my jaw hit the floor. I would have much rather spent that money up at Marks on the highway, at The Dominion or for the sake of confidence in consistency, Tim Hortons, Subway or Dairy Queen. Upon leaving this establishment, we walked out the back door to the parking lot and the same employee responsible for the straw comment was smoking right outside the door. At that point, even with children in tow, it was amusing fodder to be added to the experience. Shame that the food wasn 't better, because the location and size of the place, including the patio has immense potential to be successful under the right direction/care. It sucks to be the bearer of bad news, but buyers beware- I wish I had of been.
A solid small town breakfast/ all day diner. Service is ok, but can get busy and limited staff. Food is always consistent and good but wait times can vary from 15 50mins depending on the crowd. Large selection of food and good senior and kids menu. Price is fair and portion sizes are good. Lots of seating and good for families and groups.
Cool, right in the downtown Minden. It 's an all day breakfast sort of place... that 's what it looked like until we saw their very large menu! Poutine Fish and Chips (cod, but on the day we visited they also had halibut Steak! Sheppard 's Pie Pretty awesome! Very cheap coffee as well, which is great. I had the SMALL poutine and I 'm probably trained to think that Small means 1 1.5 handsize (like, the size of my hand because I work in downtown Toronto by Eaton Centre. Turns out their Small Poutine is served on a large plate (like the Swiss Chalet chicken leg dinner combo with fries!! The cheese on the poutine is stringy (NOT chunks, woohoo! . The gravy was only okay... and the fries were fat and crispy (the good kind! , so in conclusion I really liked my dinner. No I couldn 't finish this at all... Cream of mushroom soup was pretty good. Steak was alright... Sheppard 's Pie is actually scoops of potato (like ice cream scoops! surrounded by meat, gravy, and peas. Excellent service!
This is a good 'greasy spoon ' breakfast place. I have had the burgers, fish and chips and club all are great. This is also one of those places where you feel mildly out of place if aren 't a local.
It's been here a lot. Had some bad experiences there mostly in connection with confused service. Today was no different. To make it even worse, after Braggen to a friend over the village potatoes, they were a great disappointment and $4 for 1/8 of a pepper, 1/10 of an onion and less than 1 piece of cheese is an insult. Probably my last visit. Diamond Grill or Dominion for me from now on, I guess.
