Bidra med feedbackMy husband and I were delighted to find this gem tucked away in Roppongi thank you OpenTable! The wine list is spectacular and priced accordingly at first glance, the wine is what this place is about. We chose the set menu and were pleasantly surprised at how delicious it was along with the attentive and friendly service. Mushroom/truffle soup, foie gras (perfectly cooked and complemented with a daikon wedge! , lobster tail and a small wagyu sirloin each course the perfect size and nicely paced to enjoy the appropriate marriage of wine and allowing us to enjoy our conversation. I love dining in Tokyo, but let 's face it, the by the glass wines in many restaurants can leave a lot to be desired. Not so at Banque such a lovely by the glass choice. They also offer quality half bottles, making it super easy to pair wines appropriately. I must also comment on the delightful themed decor.... which includes richly furnished, cozily private dining alcoves. And, be sure to use the restroom... which is fun in how it was worked into the overall theme.
Ok here is the thing about Banque. It is a beautiful restaurant, the entrance getting into the restaurant is all part of the experience. They have a great wine selection and the set up of the restaurant is sexy, romantic and has private areas. The food was really great and so was the service... Here is where it fails and I would not recommended it. The ambiance is stale and they were playing very quietly in the background the soundtrack to the movie Cinema Paradisio. Great movie!! Great soundtrack! Though not the type of music to be played in a restaurant like this. The music was so low all you could hear was VERY LOUD CHATTER from the table on the other side from us. It was horrible and ruined the experience. Some suggestions would be play some Buddha Bar, hotel Costes mixes. Lounge music played at a volume you can hear and that would make the ambiance exactly what it seemed the restaurant was trying to portray. Change the music, turn it up and this place would be an amazing experience. Sorry Banque don't see myself returning when i come back to Tokyo or referring anyone to go...
My husband and I took some very special guests to Banque and were thrilled with the wonderful meal and service. Banque, itself, is richly appointed and is set up for very intimate and private gatherings. The course meal was perfectly paired with the wines we chose. And... there is such an amazing choice available on this wine list. One of the largest and most comprehensive we've seen in Tokyo. Of course, it's fine to just enjoy wines there, but we prefer to pair them with a meal. We highly recommend Banque it's a true wine lover's paradise.
Banque was wonderful. Perfect ambiance for a date night. The tables are all separated by curtains and semi private. The food was delicious (we had a course menu). Wine menu is extensive. Service was exceptional. The price point was a little rich with a 10% service charge, but we still really enjoyed our dinner.
One of the best wine of Tokyo, good food and very nice fancy decor
