Bidra med feedbackThe ramen at this restaurant is decent, but not exceptional given the price and wait times. The wait for a group of two is about 30-45 minutes, and it may be longer for groups of three or four due to limited larger tables. Despite this, it is a fun spot to eat out with friends. You have to order at the bar, so it's best to decide on your meal while waiting in line. The wait staff is friendly and the food is served promptly. It might be worth visiting before they permanently close on July 13th, but there are other ramen options in Milwaukee. Parking can be challenging in the East Side area, but there is a paid lot near the old FedEx building that may be the easiest option. If you are in a group, one person could drop off the others to wait in line while they find parking. Keep in mind that there are stairs leading down to the restaurant, which could be a limitation for those with accessibility concerns.
I decided to try this restaurant before they close. My boyfriend enjoyed his miso ramen, but I was not a fan of the pork ramen I ordered. It seemed to be lacking in seasoning or had an unusual seasoning. We also tried the orange cream puff dessert, but it was not good. The cream puff had a store-bought taste. Overall, I would rate the food 1 out of 5.
Kid-friendliness: There was a couple in line ahead of me with their child who seemed familiar with the menu. The child was more adventurous than most, mentioning a desire for oysters.
What a delightful delicious way to end the day! The honeycomb cake withplum sauce was the cherry on top of my Ramen sundae!Food: 5/5
Tonkotsu broth tastes like hot dog water, pork is like a Meat Puck and you can taste freezer on some of the ingredients. Noodles are solid. Mushroom Miso Ramen is OK. Service/staff are perfect, atmosphere is unmatched. Any ramen spot in Chicago has much better tonkotsu for around the same price, in Milwaukee most spots are marginally better. Ardent is impressive and elevated, which leads one to believe that Red Light Ramen is a cash grab rather than something they applied themselves to. Ownership could do a much better job. I'm not a professional Food Eater but I know hot dog water when I taste it.
