Bidra med feedbackVery clean establishment, and friendly staff. BUT they sit at tables without mask and you can not go to the restroom without walking within 1 1/2 feet of them. They did not ask any COVID questions or for proof of vaccination. So we won't return, even though it's good diner food, because we do not want to take the chance.
Looking for a breakfast spot and chanced upon Louie's. The place was packed but we were soon seated. Basic menu but something for everyone offered. Wait staff amazingly friendly and helpful. They don't have gluten free bread but I had a loaf in the car from shopping and they were happy to toast a slice for me. Portions were generous and nicely cooked Not a fancy spot but a good comfortable feel Clean and well designed in a place with good parking available
The portions were quite large. I ordered corn beef hash with scrambled potatoes and rye toast. The hash brown potatoes were blackened not browned. Burnt onions in the hash browns. The rye bread was good but over buttered. The place was packed with people on a Saturday at noon. The single outside door opened constantly which caused it to be quite cold and breezy. We were 3 tables away from the door. After waiting for the bill we found out you have to line up at the cashier to get your bill. It was also the line to order takeout. If you want an inexpensive all day breakfast, and quantity over quality, you might like it more than me.
We ordered the breakfast special which included 3 eggs with a choice of bacon, ham, or sausage, home fries prepared to our liking or tomatoes for those watching their carbs, a choice of toast, and coffee, all for $8.95. This special is available Monday to Friday from 6am to 11am, making it a great value. The service was quick and the servers were very friendly. We make it a point to dine here whenever we are in the area.
My husband and I love coming to this place. It's a great way to start our day when we happen to have a day off. I recommend trying the clubhouse sandwich or the veggie omelette. Omelettes come with home fries and a choice of rye, whole wheat or white bread. We have been eating here for four years now and the service and food is a always good. It's very busy between 7am and 9am and it's a small restaurant so you may have to wait if you visit during these times. We usually go after the morning rush.
