Chiringuito La Familia - Mijas

Very friendly welcome from the owner, the beach boy (rapha) is very friendly and helpful. The dishes are varied and fresh, the fish is grilled at the entrance to the beach; the service is professional and efficient. A time to enjoy and relax. Thank you for a nice day.

La Familia was recommended to us by our hotel. It's a good fish restaurant, but not a great one, well situated on the beach. Personal recommendation reserve a table some days in advanced to ensure a good view. We reserved quite last minute and were not given the best table, although this was understandable. We had the turbot fish for two, which was doused in olive oil, nevertheless tasty. The accompanies vegetables and potatoes were good too. We also had the La Familia salad with shrimps, but it was not dressed or seasoned at all, so be prepared to douse in olive oil and salt and pepper. Service was nice. Water very well priced. The other dishes we a bit pricier, but nothing outrageous for a beach front restaurant in the area. Probably one of the better fish restaurants in Mijas and surroundings, so we would go back!

Unbelievably rude and unhelpful staff. We took unoccupied sunloungers on the beach, as you do. About 40 mins later a family arrived who went to get one of the people from the beach bar to move us as they had ‘reserved’ the beds we were on. There was nothing at all to indicate the beds were reserved and the manner in which he spoke to us was just down right rude. When I asked where we were allowed to sit he just shrugged his shoulders and walked off. We went further down the beach to Merendero Papao where it was a much nicer, pleasant experience. We were allowed to sit where had we wanted and the guy brought us cushions for our beds. All the staff were really polite and helpful and the food and drinks were spot on. Maybe La Familia should take the 5 minute walk to Merendero Papao and ask if they could get some training on how to be polite.

Dorada y lubina al espeto muy buenos, Las almejas diábola espectaculares, servicio amable y rápido. Recomendable 100%.

Todo un placer comer en este restaurante, tanto por la comida, como por el servicio recibido. En especial destacar el pescado, los arroces y las almejas a la diávola (simplemente por este plato ya merece la pena la visita). Volveré muy pronto!
