Newport Vineyards Overlook - Middletown

Easter brunch. Atmosphere was nice but the food was overpriced for what it was $8 for a small side of corned beef hash, $5 for three skinny and fatty pieces of bacon).Also not a great selection for kids. The “pancake” was more like a quiche. I like the vibe here but wasn’t impressed with the food and speed of service though we were told what to expect once we were seated).

We went to the pop-up event for Flights, Bites and Boards. Great beer and wine flights and the cheese board was delicious. I’m really hopping they open up the top again where Brix was. We miss going there!

Flights, bites and boards event was so fun! The food was fantastic. Especially liked the short rib toast and the smoked butternut bites. Sangria flight and cookie dessert board were great. Our waitress was excellent. I am going to attempt a red sangria replica for Thanksgiving with the bottle of Cabernet Franc I purchased at the wine shop. We will be back for the al dente event!

My husband and I love coming to the vineyard whenever we are in Newport. This was our first time in The Overlook. We had a great table overlooking the barrels and vineyard. I was extremely disappointed when I was eating my chicken “pie” which was really an empanada and but right into a 1.5 inch bone. I told the waitress and all she did was give me a new plate. Rather than apologizing and taking it off our bill because I was disgusted to eat anymore of it, she went on serving others.

I know there were time limits for the table, but our waitress had us order drinks and then told us that the next reservation was there and we had to leave a soon as she brought over the drinks. We hadn’t ordered a dessert board and we had to rush our last flights/drinks. It would have been nice to have a little more of a time warning from our server. Maybe if there is another even like this, they can extend the reservation times to 1 hour and 45 mins or even 2 hours and just have a more limited seating? The pop up was a wonderful idea, we just wished there was a little more time to enjoy. Overall, the pop up experience was very unique and food/drinks were delicious. Hope for another one soon!
