Axel's River Grille Mendota

Service was great! The spicy chicken penne was awful. The noodles were over cooked, and the cream sauce was not made with cream but possibly skim milk. It’s to bad that a simple dish can turn out so terrible.

The food is so good and everyone who works there is so nice, they make dining there a good experience. The ambiance is also very upscale without being pretentious.

I HAVE ORDERED WALLEYE MANY TIMES, YESTERDAY IF TASTED AND SMELLED FISHY. iT WAS SERVED ALONE NO TARTAR SAUCE, GREEN BEANS I DID NOT WANT. THE FRENCH ONION SOUP WAS FORGOTTEN HAD TO ASK, WHEN ARRIVED THE BASE WAS BLAND FOR SURE. BROUGHT IT HOME TO ADD MORE BEEF FLAVOR. WAINTER THE NICEST, BUT OUT OF HIS LEAGUE, MAYBE NEW. OVERALL NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE WHICH IS STUNNING! SUSAN MURR

The food and service was excellent. We had the 9oz sirloin steak and the walleye. Plenty of food to fill you up.

Last minute decision to go to Axel’s on a Friday night at 7. Made a reservation and only needed to wait for 15 minutes to be seated on a very busy night. Service and food was excellent. Had the cioppino and French dip sandwich. We had been there many years ago and will now go more often as the atmosphere is very cozy.
