Archangel - Mendip

The restaurant was just okay. I visited a few years ago and was impressed by the atmosphere, building, and food, but it seems to have changed since then. The menu is similar but the quality has decreased, with thicker, greasier batter and lower quality condiments. The food was average and the sharing portions were smaller than expected. The decor hasn't been updated much in the past 10 years and shows signs of neglect such as peeling wallpaper in the bathrooms. The bar area was untidy with young staff standing around with little to do, not attending to customers. While the front of the restaurant looked nice, it lacked the warmth and heart I remember from my previous visit. The staff were friendly enough, but overall, the experience was disappointing.

This quirky pub has very friendly staff and a nice garden area to sit in. The room was decent but could use some improvements, as it was a bit dusty and the shower dripped. There was also only one set of towels, which was inconvenient to discover late at night. The pub had a lively vibe and the food was alright, with some dishes being better than others. The breakfast was a bit disappointing, as the smashed avocado on sourdough with poached egg turned out to be a cold muffin with barely any avocado and hard eggs. The highlight of the pub was the helpful and accommodating staff, with a couple of members standing out for their great service.

Just returned from the erzengel had a beautiful meal with 9 friends. the hotel had put the library for our use to the side and the waiting staff was so attentive. our party had a mix of appetizers, netzens and desserts and in any case the eating was absolutely first class. my lamb just slept in mouth fabulous. my wife enjoyed some of the special gin cocktails and we relaxed in one of the small alcoves after our meal. great food, great service and a wonderful place very recommended.

One of the best hotels I've ever tried, combines both the excellent service and the old size of past, I like and recommend and every time I'm in religious that will be my favourite place.
