Didn't have the theatrics you would usually associate with Teppanyaki and the fried was garlic fried rice instead of the usual egg fried. In fact garlic highlighted in every thing that was cooked. If you like garlic, the food was fabulous. If garlic is not your thing you may struggle here although I'm sure you can ask the chef to remove it.
Food was enjoyable but some staff members treated us badly, felt like we were intruding. Ignored us and even cooked our food in front of some overseas visitors.Lots of other excellent teppanyaki restaurants in Melbourne.
I travel for a living and eat really well. This is in the top 10-20 places I've ever eaten. Their signature #1 appetizer is to die for. I did the $20 upgrade to the beef lovers menu and the wagyu was outstanding. I will come back. Hope they remember me so I don't need a reservation a week in advance.
Overall a very satisfactory experience but for the steak. We ordered the Beef Lovers set menu which delivers Wagyu sirloin and Tenderloin. We upgraded the wagyu to full blood 9+ marbling at a cost of $20 extra each. The tenderloin was acceptable but not great...a tad overdone but the sirloin was as tough as old boots. I ate about 5% of it and my partner ate less. The chef noticed and said did we not eat it because it was too chewy? When we confirmed this he said he would have to talk to his boss about getting better steak! This put off the guy sitting next to me who was just about to get his wagyu sirloin and he ended up leaving most of his too. My advice would be to half the quantity and double the quality. It's not like they leave you short of food in total.
We were a little sceptical about trying this restaurant, but we are so glad we did...wow what an experience!! The high quality of service and chef skills are outstanding along with the amazingly tasty food and ambience really set our nights entertainment watching our food being prepared and set alight right in front of us...spectacular. We'll be back for sure. Well done to our chef, it was his first night cooking and showing his skills and he did it gracefully, so thank you.
