Pok Pok Junior - Melbourne

Was so glad we found this little restaurant right near our accommodation in the city. We went on a Monday night so it was quiet but that meant we got great service. The food was delicious and the flavours were the same as I have had in Thailand. To top it off there was a range of Thai beer and happy hour. อาหารอร่อย พนักงานคนไทย ถ้าคิดถึงประเทศไทยต้องกินที่ร้านนี้นะครับ

That's right, this place is great, especially for a fast lunch. Thai fish cakes and beer or Thai fish salad and beer all done in under 30 minutes. Good for business lunch. Very pleasant staff. Delicious food. Beer. Richard Pusey Melbourne Finance Broker was here.

Friday lunch time was probably not the best time to try for a table without a booking, but we got a table for 4 outside without any problems. It was a little cool until the sun came out from behind the clouds and then it heated up. There is no shade, so it might pay to have a hat and sunglasses on warm days. Managed to get our orders in easily enough and food came out quite quickly. There seemed to be some confusion between our table and the one next to us, but we all got our food correctly. Very enjoyable lunch.

We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at this restaurant! The beef cheek curry was excellent, the pork belly was delicious, and the noodles were also very good. The service was quick and the price was affordable, costing less than $20 per person for a filling meal.

This restaurant gets absolutely packed on a sunny Melbourne day, so make sure you either book a table or get there before 12 if you're heading there for lunch. The restaurant claims to be Thai but it's really a fusion of all things Asian. The food is very good, with a good range of options. It is reasonably priced at around $9 for an entrée and $16 for a main. However, the service is chaotic. Staff don't seem to have a system for food or drinks and there's lots of wandering around with food trying to find out where it should be delivered. Of the four of us lunching yesterday, one didn't get their main until the rest of us had finished while our drinks only arrived after our 3rd reminder. Shame, as the experience could have been seriously better. Would I go back? Probably not.
