Hunky Dory Oakleigh - Melbourne

This fish and chip chain is always one of my favorite spots! The grilled fish is always cooked perfectly, and I love the combination of chips, salad, and grilled fish. My preferred dressing is usually the Japanese one, but recently I've been enjoying the African dressing. The potato cakes here are also fantastic, with a super crunchy texture.

My partner and I ordered a takeaway from Hunky Dory. We were looking for a quick delivery and were not disappointed. My partner tried the 'Fishless' fish out of curiosity and found it to taste like a low-quality fish, similar to what you would find in a frozen fish finger. I had the Hunky bowl with grilled fish, which was tasty and not overly filling for dinner. However, I would have preferred more vegetables and less rice, as over half of the bowl was filled with rice.

Hunky Dory Oakleigh offers a bright and open atmosphere with plenty of seating, making it a great spot for delicious fish and chips. I always opt for the grilled barramundi, which is juicy, firm yet still soft, and seasoned with a zesty Mediterranean flavor. The quinoa salad is a perfect accompaniment, providing a healthy and satisfying dish with bursts of juiciness from the dried cranberries. The calamari strips are also a standout, tender with a great texture. And of course, you can't go wrong with classics like dim sims - this time I tried them steamed for a healthier option!

Always enjoy eating here for fresh and smartly served fish and chips. I just love the seafood mix grill served with chunky chips and fab salad.. keep up the good work guys!

Fresh fish, fresh flavours... at a higher cost.<br/ <br/ I understand this place is a franchise and franchises can tend to lose its “love” when it comes to preparing food. <br/ Not this place! The fish was fresh as anything, the calamari were perfectly cooked with great flavour. Do you know when you get calamari and they can be stringy... not here! They were perfect! <br/ <br/ The sizes of plates is very generous too; as I said above it’s at a higher cost but with the quality of food that’s not an issue!<br/ <br/ Food: 5<br/ Service: 3<br/ Ambience: 4
