It was a nice cellar, atmosphere was good, nice atmospheric music. Large range of wine, staff knows a lot about the types. Really a place to go for good quality wine with a tasty cheese board.

During a city trip to Mechelen I accidentally came across The Cellar (12-03-2022). The sign outside says nothing other than 'Wine Cheese ' and an arrow pointing to a lugubrious staircase. This staircase is nicely decorated with candles and if you go straight here you walk straight into the cheese cooler. The entire cheese cellar is located in an old cellar that has been kept as 'unique ' as possible. The 'cellar master ' who was present this day was a pleasant woman who was happy to tell us which wine we would like most. We soon noticed that this cellar master was very knowledgeable in the drinks and cheeses that were offered. It was no problem to recommend a number of wines that would suit the cheeses and our taste. When the cheeses arrived, they were explained separately, including the order in which they would taste best. The music and decor of The Cellar invite you to enjoy the moment to the fullest. A quiet atmosphere and beautiful products. Afterwards the cellar master invited us to view the restored cathedral on the ground floor. It 's really cool that someone offers this on their own initiative and can give us an unforgettable evening! Difficult to find but DEFINITELY worth a visit!

An excellent gourmet meal, with a beautiful balance of flavors and a selection of the most suitable wines. Careful, warm and efficient service (and in French, which is more). This address deserves all your attention.
