Bell Cafe - Mechanicsville

*Buyer beware* This restaurant is fraudulent! I dined here in December 2023. They used an electronic point of sale (which I thought would minimize fraud). Unfortunately, they still took advantage of me by altering what I had initially entered, thus charging my credit card a larger tip than I had in fact authorized. Thankfully, I kept the receipt, proving that I had in fact authorized a lower tip (still reasonable though).I brought this to management’s attention a month ago. I provided them a copy of my receipt and screenshots of my bank statement. I requested that they investigate and resolve this. I've since followed up with multiple emails. Only this week did they reply to me stating that “it’s too hard to retrieve old financial records” and, therefore, will not do anything to correct their error! What a horrible way to treat customers…give them the silent treatment for a month, let them follow-up multiple times, only to reply a month later stating that you’re too lazy to do anything about it! You’ve lost my business!

If you're gonna enjoy a drink during brunch get the flight and share, they make fantastic cocktails. The chicken and waffles are amazing as are the shrimp and grits. Really glad I got to finally get in here and enjoy.

Ordered the chicken biscuit. Chicken was flavorless and bone dry, $14 down the drain. Chick-fil-A is better for 1/3 of the price. Kiddo got the French toast and really enjoyed it. Also had the latte flight, would order again if I ever go back. Our waitress was a treat, even brought my kid a complimentary latte in her favorite flavor. Could have been a great experience, but my main course was so bad that it's hard for me to recommend the place. Especially considering the prices

We were in the area and decided to stop here for a late lunch. The people were nice, so I really don't want to be mean, but the problems were to numerous to not leave a review.After ordering our food, it was taking quite a bit of time before the server came back by and asked us if we ordered. He realized we had looking at his notepad, but I guess he had not put in the order so we did finally get our food after another wait, making (that he forgot) apparent. My wife got the French Toast, which she said were really so so. No hint of the vanilla flavor she said.I got the Crabcake Eggs Benedict and they were not very good at all. The Biscuit while dampened by the soggy Crabcake, was still stale and dry. The only thing good was that the poached eggs were done correctly. The side dish of potatoes were undercooked in the middle. I am guessing they may have been cooked from frozen because they looked nice on the outside but way underdone potatoes inside.The server asked if everything was OK, but I did not complain at the time as we had really already spent too long to wait for a redo of this forgettable meal.I am really sorry to leave this poor review as, I believe small local restaurants deserve our patronage. Maybe the owners and staff that read these reviews may try to fix these issues in the future.
