Bidra med feedbackVery cool museum. From someone that is not from the area, it is in a non-conventional location … about an hour south of Portland if you happen to be flying into Portland International. My tour guide (optional) was great. Very knowledgeable and fun. This tour was just under an hour.First Come First Served extra cockpit tours of the Spruce Goose are a must. Sit in the same seat Howard Hughes sat in 75 years ago.I highly recommend the entire day as there is so much to see … I only had 4 hours and regret it. Will have to come back!!
I have been telling everyone about this place since our visit, whether they asked or not. They have an impressive collection of aircraft and spacecraft with some very meaningful pieces included. Some of my personal favorites were the Spruce Goose, the second manned soviet space capsule to go to space, the SR-71 Blackbird, and a volunteer in the space museum who worked as an engineer on the rocket motor that started it all.We stopped here because it was on the way to something else, but we have been talking about going back ever since.
I haven't been here since before COVID, and I realized they have lost some of their aircraft (along with all of their armored vehicles), but it is still a great experience. The museum is well maintained with tons of information and the aircraft are just amazing. There is obviously the Me262, which is incredibly rare and an incredible feat of engineering, but I was surprised to see other weirder aircraft there as well. For instance, I had never heard of, let alone seen, a Mojave. I was also excited to see that they have a Mohawk, another very interesting (and rare) aircraft.
This was a surprise! I mostly went because my husband and son wanted to go, but it was great! The Spruce Goose is incredible and there were several sections of the space exhibit that made me emotional. We even met the gentleman that worked on the Atlas Rocket Booster. So cool! Definitely make this part of your vacation!
Absolutely fabulous aviation and space museum that has something that would interest almost anyone, whether you are an enthusiast, or not. Truly top-tier exhibits. I thought the Titan 2 silo reproduction (all indoors! was particularly impressive... I saw the Spruce-Goose in Long Beach about 30 years ago- I 'm glad she found a suitable home here in Oregon. At $22 for an adult admission, it 's a little expensive, but I felt it was worth it. Go see this place.
