Bidra med feedbackVegan Friendly! Super Healthy and Tasty Food! I?ve been visiting DC for weekend. After searching for some vegan places, we stopped on this place and didn?t regret at all. The food quality is perfect, always fresh, and delicious. My favorite position is Mother Earth. This dish combines some greens, grains, quinoa, mushrooms, avocado combine with sauce turns into the Gucci among all food in world. On top of that, nice welcoming people working there. Also, I love interior design so much.
Celiac here. And I got the Glow Bowl, Gluten-free Mac n cheese and the Gluten-free lemon olive oil cake. Glow bowl was awesome, so flavorful, filling and delicious. Mac N Cheese was pretty bland, I added pepper but it was mediocre, I wouldn't order again. Lemon Olive Oil Cake was awesome! Most GF cakes are dry and cardboard like, this was perfect and couldn't even tell it was GF.
I loved flower child. In the past few months I got food from there at least once or twice a week and I loved it. The past few weeks the quality of the food has deteriorated. Recently I very often get burnt sweet potatos on my mother earth bowl which are not healthy and should be thrown out instead of giving them to a customer. Also the quantity varies a lot from time to time. Last time I got only 2 pieces of sweet potato. This time my mother earth bowl( what I get mostly) lacks the sauce and barely has any cucumbers which is sad. I hope they fix the issues but I have to find another go to place, since the food is not as good as it used to be. Bummer
Very clean inside the restaurant, very friendly staff, quality ingredients. I got Thai Dye and Bird is the Word. They were both fresh and healthy tasting with a lot of flavor! I recommend this!
Realistically I'd give this restaurant a 3.5 but that isn't an option and 4 stars is too high. I had the chicken entree with BBQ heirloom carrots and the gluten free mac and cheese for context, if you order an entree you get to pick a base protein and two sides (or you can order three vegetarian sides as an entree). Although I only ate here once and I'm making an assumption, the takeaway from my meal is that Flower Child excels at the more creative, adventurous dishes on their menu and not so much with the more run of the mill plates. Case in point: the chicken and mac and cheese were both bland in my opinion. The chicken was a bit dry as well. The BBQ heirloom carrots, however, were the standout of the meal. I'd never seen carrots fried like that, and the avocado ranch was delicious. Luckily, there was plenty of the wonderful sauce to go around, which helped remedy the flavor of the chicken. I think it's possible to have a good meal at this place, but unfortunately you can't just throw a dart at the menu and expect to land on something satisfying.
