Bidra med feedbackWas there for a buffet lunch today Wednesday. A bit late and did not have a great experience with the food. The staff is very friendly and the place looks ok. The food however, was too sweet and very dry since they keep moving the small amount of food in the trays to make it look fresh. We do at least once a week Indian food, so we know the menus and what the food should taste like. This place all the dishes test a bit old and too sweet. They should refill the trays instead of making little bits of a dish and mixing it with the old. Because the food gets dry and tasteless. I will be willing to try it later in the year to see if this was a one day problem.
If there is lower than this I would probably give that. I regret if not reading this before visiting the restaurant. We were coming back from our long weekend from Dells and thought to eat some Indian food on our way back to Chicago. From entering the Host was not welcoming as they were not expecting a group of 18 would come on a Memorial Day at 7pm at night. Could see from the face the crew is not happy to serve. From ordering food, host was in a hurry to get our orders. When asked for suggestion for any chef speciality’s, the response was “ all dishes are good “. Food quality was below par. I have eaten at restaurant with low quality food, this takes the top spot. Paneer was hard and no taste looks like frozen directly fried, no marinations) . Malai kofta tasted funny, and chicken was hard n rubber chewy. Rice came cold, when asked to get it warmed the server gave an attitude. Asked for onions, just got a small plate for 18 people. Everyone still ate food as they all were hungry and no other option to go anywhere else. Even paid the full bill and never asked for any refunds. We did wanted to address this to the owner of the restaurant. When asked the contact the owner, the server comes aggravated and says Talk to me, I’m at the front not the owner. When asked “we don’t want to talk to you as you were the one we are unhappy off and you are the face of the restaurant” the server just walked to the back. When the cook came out to talk, she pulled the cook away. We were also threatened by server son who was working there. Were cursed at by him in Punjabi. we never cursed or swear at him or anyone else). Only thing we wanted was to get this thing addressed with owner who is probably loosing on more business because of the front end staff at his/ her restaurant. We didn’t wanted an chaos or any drama. Just a simple talk with owner. Sometimes if the food is not good, if the service is. Customer can be happy too. But this restaurant both of them were not available. And they are in business not sure how. Maybe people have no other option of Indian food around. I’m happy to talk with the owner if they want to send me a message or their number. For sure I would not recommend anyone to visit the restaurant neither I’ll want to visit it again.
Very nice dinner entrees, wheelchair accessible, and very friendly. Be sure to try some of the wonderful bread options.
One of the best restaurant in Madison.. I would like to visit again. The food and customer service was awesome.
Taj is located on Park St and is near many event near by and close to downtown. During my stay here in Madison for crossfit I stopped by Taj multiple times especially before I left Madison. Taj offers a wide selection of food such as Veg, Non-Veg and Deserts! They make everything in house including the deserts which many places i've come to find don't. The service is also wonderful! will be back next time :
