Latitude Gastro - Matina

If I 'm being honest, Latitude Gastro Bar always sounded a little bit too fancy for my taste especially because I can 't help but think about it in conjunction with the rest of the food joints in Marikina. Everything in this city (at least in terms of food) exists in a small scale. All the new and best tasting restaurants and food joints are neighborhood based, and have a really relaxed, sleepy kind of vibe to them. I was never really sure that a gastro bar would fit in. To my amazement however, Latitude came through as a really fun, playful restaurant with fresh takes on familiar food. The first thing I tried was also the first thing on their menu: Egg Barbecue. It looked and tasted just as fun as it 's named! The dish is made of bacon-wrapped quail eggs, grilled perfectly over a charcoal fire. It was a great appetizer and definitely made me a little more curious about the other offerings that the restaurant had. For the main course, my brother and I decided to have the boneless chicken wings, which according to the menu, is comprised of parmesan crushed chicken wings and onion rings in Gorgonzola and black label barbeque sauce IT. WAS. DELICIOUS. And just as decadent-tasting as the menu promised. Overall, the gastro bar wasn 't at all as pretentious as I pegged it to be. In fact it was just as laid back as any other old Marikina neighborhood joint, but with a really playful, adventurous twist, which turns out, I appreciate.
