Walked in for pizza, was told it would be too slow. Ask for fried potatoes instead, got a very annoyed look by the grouchy old lady /chef who gave me dirty looks the whole time. She also smoked and coughed while making my food. Do yourselves a favor, walk 8 min down the road and find a real restaurant with decent service.
Service very slow.The first course was very good. But my wife's main course came a long time before mine. I managed to find a little meat on the selection of lamb bones I was given and my vegetables arrived after sitting on the bar going cold after we had both finished! ... Very poor!
After many years back to this restaurant (new location) great food, location and very honest price. Quality olive oil and ingredients. Very pleased!
A delicious experience awaits if you are willing to travel outside the tourist corridor, especially in the year 2019 when Matera is so busy. The restaurant was a pleasant, quiet oasis on the day we ate lunch. We started with a chef's choice of antipasto and not a crumb was left on the plates. The red wine choice (Cantine Del Notaro 2016 L'Atto) was delicious and reasonably priced, as was the whole meal. Specials are listed on a board outside. I had the pasta with clams and it was delicious. Massimo Rivelli and his mama are dedicated to delicious food in an upscale environment at a fair price.
