Terreiro Bahia - Mata de São João

This place is good, we ate well, but the bill at the end of the night came as a big shock. Prices to match the most expensive restaurants in Sao Paulo. We ate at Terreiro Brasil for the following 2 nights and found it much better - and better value.

Living in São Paulo I understand that Brazil is not cheap. However, the prices in this restaurant rival the prices of upmarket restaurants in the city. In short: overpriced. Had a lovely salad and a shrimp risotto the later one was lacking in creaminess it was boring. Quality of foodstuffs is v good. Both puddings were excellent

The moqueca (Bahian fish stew) of fish and shrimp was excellent! This restaurant has a charming, artistic ambience and wonderful food. The seafood was cooked to perfection, not overdone, and accompaniments were perfect. The pirao was especially good. We chose a table near the patio. This restaurant was not on a standard list recommended by our hotel, but the local people we asked said we made the right choice. Service was a little relaxed, but we were not in a hurry--food is obviously made to order so expect to wait a bit.

By far the best in Praia do forte. Choose from perfectly executed "moquecas", typical Bahia dish, kind of a stew with all kinds of sea food, or go to the more authorial dishes. Wonderful service, more than decent wine list (an exemption around), and lovely desserts. Definitely worth (at least) one visit

Excellent restaurant with great artistic decor. We went there at our first night in the city and we couldn't avoid going again in the next night. Food is excellent and inspired. It serves traditional dishes in bistro style with a touch of high cuisine. Ingredients are fresh and service is very polite. It's a bit expensive when compared to other restaurants in the same street. If you are looking for a different experience in regional dishes (but a bit pricey), this is the place.If you are looking for traditional dishes, then stick to other restaurants in the area.Foi uma agradável surpresa o serviço e a excelente comida servida pelo Terreiro Bahia. Essa sem duvida foi a nossa melhor refeição na cidade. Bem feita com ingredientes de primeira qualidade. Os funcionários simpáticos e atenciosos. Pretendo voltar muitas vezes.
